"Mike and Leo did a great job leveling my front steps taking care not to damage nearby landscaping. They were professional and efficient. They added sand to the poly crack to minimize the color difference where the crack was repaired. They also cleaned up the work area nicely. I would highly recommend Detroit Concrete Leveling."

"First and foremost, i did a tremendous amount of research for not only great pavers but a truly awesome paver company. There were many homes in my neighborhood who had pavers and the majority of them were done by Exoctic Pavers. I contacted Marsha, the owner of this paver company, and i was pretty blown away in the commitment she presented to me by not only taking me to different homes with different style pavers, but listened to me in what design and color i thought would be great for my home. I'm a disabled military combat veteran, and i am so uniform in everything i have that I've updated with my house. Marsha and i in detail took our time to decide what would really make my driveway and patio pop with the color i chose and she 100% agreed. I will show pics after my review. I wanted a different color and style from what my neighbors had, and i think when you see these pics, you will agree. Marsha's son, Marc and her husband Rusty were over the top amazing in making me feel very comfortable with my choice of pavers and what the process would be like. I was stunned how quickly my old driveway was taken out and the pavers put down on my driveway and patio in 2 1/2 days. The wow factor pretty much had me speechless and these truly dedicated workers, including Ricky, who ran the awesome crew that were non stop in doing such an amazing job, I had to tip them an amount that they deserved to be stunned just like me because of the amazing job they did!!! The most important thing you have to remember is "patience" on getting these pavers sealed. Listen to Marsha, she knows what she's talking about when you have to let these pavers cure for at least 2 months. Bottom line, i ended up becoming great friends with these amazing people and it was a tremendous honor having Exoctic Pavers do my driveway and patio. Thankyou Marsha, Rusty, and Marc, and Ricky. You folks are one of a kind!!!"

"I have some level of disappointment because Acculevel was unable to lift the patio back to its original position. That being said, I think the challenges they encountered would have been encountered by anyone else, and some of the other one-man mudjacking operations who wanted to use buckets or wheelbarrows to carry slurry back to my patio probably would have given up earlier. I chose Acculevel because they use foam instead of slurry (which should last much longer), they had a 300 foot hose solving problems with access to the backyard (I live on a steep slope with retaining walls), and I had more confidence selecting them compared to independent one-man operations who do mudjacking. Their price wasn't the highest bid I received but it wasn't the lowest. I thought it was fair given the foam is a higher quality product. The crew actually arrived an hour early, which actually wasn't ideal but not a big deal (a call would have been nice). They worked hard and I suspect they were there much longer than they had originally envisioned. They did a nice job sealing all cracks when they were done with a high-quality crack filler which most of the mudjacking guys told me they don't do. The good crack filler can be messy and difficult to work with so this was a nice little bonus. Although they couldn't get the patio back to where it was, they worked hard to do the best they could without risking damage to the retaining wall. At least with the foam they use, I have confidence it won't sink anymore."

"Tom and team did an excellent job. Very good crew. Deerbrook removed existing driveway and replaced with 6” concrete, including a vapor lock 20/20 additive at my request. They obtained all permits and inspections. I would definitely use again for other projects."

"I called Metropolitan Concrete for a quote to replace my old patio with a new larger stamped concrete patio. Jeremy from sales came over and measured up everything and showed us all of our options along with color charts and borders. He gave a a reasonable timeline and told me Giovanni would be touch with me and set a start date. Giovanni and his crew showed up and did a great job on our new patio. He always made himself available to answer my phone calls when I had questions (and I had plenty) and was always very pleasant to deal with, and always thanked me at the end of our conversation. This guy is a class act. We look forward to using Metropolitan Concrete in the future. They were truly a pleasure to deal with."

"The Thomas Robert Construction LLC (TRC) crew was excellent and far exceeded our expectations. Our house was originally built in the mid 1940s. TRC only works on one  project at a time so they don't leave until their present project is completed. <br /> The rear deck was new so there was no demolition involved but they did remove a small entryway into the back door. The front porch required the removal of an existing porch. TRC provided designs for us to choose from. In addition, a portion of the deck was built to support the weight of a hot tub. <br /> We found their pricing to be reasonable and they only required payment when they completed agreed upon portions of the project. <br /> Their workmanship was superb and their attention to detail was beyond our expectations. <br /> We would definitely use their services again. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Ortonville, MI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
