"Our AC went out on a Monday night - Reddi Services sent someone out that evening but before the tech, Joel, could get to our house it started raining so he had to reschedule for the next morning. He said he'd be here first thing Tuesday and he was! He quickly figured out that our AC and furnace all needed to be replaced (it was nearing 20 years old so this was not a shock) and gave us options ranging from a temporary, more affordable fix to the top of the line option. He happily gave a verbal report to our home warranty company which took much longer than expected and worked with us on making the best decision for us. We decided to replace the system and Joel got us in as quickly as possible, giving us pointers on how to stay cool and get our unit to keep chugging along for the few days until our appointment. Joel, Mark, and Matt were the technicians that came to install - they showed up early, were quick and efficient, and kept us up to date during the install. They were in and out in about 6 hours! They did a great job and we would highly recommend Reddi Services!"

"10/10 would recommend. Bryan is professional, knowledgeable and maintains excellent communication with his customers. We had an incredible experience working with KCS to resolve issues with our septic system that had been installed by a different company before we bought our house. Due to our budget and the nature of our septic problems, we had the work on our system done in two phases, and from the first time he came to our house 9 months ago, through the completion of all the work we needed to get the system functioning correctly this week, Bryan was so helpful. He made us feel comfortable as we dealt with an unfortunate situation. He and his team excavated and reset our pump tank, completely redid the manifolds for our drip fields and corrected several other issues with the pipes going into and out of the septic tank. He is an expert in his field and never hesitated to share his knowledge with us, to answer any questions we had about the situation we were dealing with or to increase our understanding of our system. He is prompt with communication and never made us feel like we were burdening him with questions as we navigated the best way to resolve the circumstances we were working with. When he first came to our house and looked into our pump tank, his knowledge and experience allowed him to accurately predict what sort of issues we’d find throughout the rest of our septic system. His estimates regarding the cost of work needed also proved to be accurate and fair. The crews that he had out for each of our jobs were professional and worked quickly to get the jobs done well. After 4 years of battling a faulty system plagued by issues, we finally feel at ease and confident that we have a quality system that has been installed correctly. I’ll recommend Bryan and KCS to anyone I know that is need of septic work."

"Hector was amazing from start to finish. Prompt and shows up himself to estimate the work, which was much more reasonable than the 2 other quotes we received, and does a great job through until the end. I have used him three times (for clients anbd myself) and has been consistent every time. He listens, gives quotes quickly, and schedules the repair promptly. Could not recommend more highly, he will be my sewer and septic guy for the long-term!"

FAQs for septic system installation and replacement projects in Overland Park, KS

The smallest standard septic system uses a 500-gallon tank, which costs between $875 and $1,150 installed. This size works well for single-occupant dwellings with minimal wastewater production. However, many local regulations specify minimum tank sizes, so check with your building department before committing to this compact option. Some jurisdictions require at least 750 gallons regardless of home size to ensure adequate waste processing capacity.

The installation timeline varies based on site conditions, permit processing, and contractor schedules. The process includes obtaining permits, conducting soil tests, excavation, tank placement, leach field construction, and final connections. Weather conditions, soil challenges, and inspection scheduling can all affect the overall timeline. It's wise to begin planning well in advance of when you need the system operational.

The most economical approach is to install a conventional anaerobic system with a plastic tank. To minimize costs while maintaining legality, obtain multiple quotes from licensed installers, consider scheduling during their slower seasons, and handle basic site preparation yourself. Never skip permits or required testing to save money—illegal installations can result in significant fines and mandatory removal, ultimately costing far more than doing it right initially.

Regular pumping helps prevent system failures and extends operational life. Most small systems require pumping every three to five years, though frequency depends on household size and usage patterns. Pumping services cost between $290 and $530, making this maintenance expense relatively minor compared to potential repair costs ranging from $500 to $2,600 for neglected systems. Establishing a regular maintenance schedule based on your installer's recommendations helps avoid costly emergency services.
