"All workers were respectful and polite. They finished work in less time than I thought and cleaned up any mess which I appreciated. Tub and wall look beautiful. They explained how to use it. Customer service was great starting with sales rep and throughout installation. They removed the big whirlpool tub and installed a walk-in tub."

"My project was an (old) bath to a walk-in shower. Mine was needed for current & future safety reasons. The choices that I picked looked very good/professional & up-to-date. I love it and highly recommend "The Bath Authority" to anyone who is looking for the same reasons. Also, the staff, in all aspects of the job, were friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough. IT WAS DONE IN ONE DAY TOO!! Thanks to all."

"The first shower West Shore Home installed was 2 inches narrower than the tub it replaced, leaving only 27" inside the shower. It was installed in February of 2024 by a team from Indianapolis who was assigned to the Cleveland office for a week. No one from the Cleveland office came during the installation to inspect the work. My follow-up contacts with the Cleveland sales manager were completely unsatisfactory - he claimed that was the correct shower and misrepresented several things to support his claim. Thankfully, when I described the problem in a detailed review to the company the home office responded immediately and arranged for a complete redo to have the correct size shower installed. I am very pleased with the final result. The customer service of the Cleveland sales manager was completely unsatisfactory. If you are going to work with the Cleveland office I highly recommend that you have them show you exactly what size your new shower will be BEFORE you sign the contract. If you want to be extra careful, have them print out the full contract and go over each of the measurements with you to make sure your new shower is what you want. Unbeknownst to me, the Cleveland office was having staffing issues during the time of my first installation. Hopefully these problems will be resolved soon."

"John Desborough and his team are and always will be our HEROES! There are not enough words to explain what this man and his knowledgeable team did to SAVE our large remodel project, help us avoid a potential lawsuit and make it possible to serve our traditional Christmas dinner for 35 family members last year! Extremely knowledgeable, intense, focused, quality oriented, HARD WORKING perfectionists are only a few words to describe this team of dedicated professionals. As a Quality Manager for a large electronics distributor, process, accuracy and meeting job deadlines were all very important to us. Desborough Construction was called in TO SAVE a large remodel project with another builder that was severely behind and had several quality concerns. They installed a heated stone floor in our large kitchen, hallway, first floor bathroom and laundry room. We (the builder, my husband and I) were so impressed, they were also asked to tear out and retile (for 3rd time!!) our foyer and complete the master and two spare bathrooms. Along the way they helped with drywall, plumbing and a variety of other smaller problems. Our contract was signed June 2017 with another builder recommended to us, with a request to be completed 1st week in December... as we serve around 35 family members for Christmas every year. By Thanksgiving... only our foyer was tiled (parts of it twice!) and looked awful, all seven rooms involved in this remodel were covered in thick dust, barely drywalled, uneven plywood flooring... an absolute disaster! The kitchen, laundry and hallway flooring had not been started and the custom cabinets had been delivered the end of September! Without floors? We could not proceed. Our house was COMPLETELY in shambles... Imagine every unremodeled square inch of your house stacked 6-7' high with boxes, furniture, stuff all covered in thick dust... It was Thanksgiving. :*( I had seen John's Review on Angie's list and he also came recommended by Cleveland Tile. I contacted him and he immediately responded... met with our builder and was given the green light. LONG DAYS, WEEKENDS, intensity, professionalism, focus like I have not seen in years began. He would not compromise with our builder on quality. All processes were to HIS standards. This team of four dug in... kept us informed every step, met every timeline and allowing us within 2 weeks to have cabinets installed in three areas. Then they tore out and retiled the foyer and 1st floor bath for the third time Dec 22nd, finishing Christmas Eve, fixing our builders mess. The family pitched in and Christmas was saved! After the holidays, they began work on the master and spare bathroom floors and showers. They are beautiful! Desborough Construction saved our project, Christmas and probably a lawsuit!! THANK YOU JOHN, NICK, PAUL AND ROB!"

"Work was started promptly in early July and accomplished efficiently, until it slowed down and dragged on. Crew was pleasant and capable.   Work was finally completed in mid-November, after dispute over final payment. Major work was well done overall but the finishing up was not as well done. To successfully work with Buccilli Contractor it is essential that the contractor's proposal specify all work to be performed.  I accepted a general kitchen remodel proposal and then had a dispute over $2,000 for installation of backsplash, which I believed to be part of proposal.  Dominic Buccilli is a decent man and we resolved the issue.

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Painesville, OH

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
