"I have aluminum wiring and was initially determined to have it replaced with copper. I was convinced by Jon Phillips that this was not necessary and instead hot spots and panel could be evaluated by his company. Lawrence came and checked panel and previous alumicons connections put in by a different electrical company. He discovered my panel was not up to code and there were no alumicons for the grounding wires in outlets. He also recommended GFCIs at outlets to break the circuit if there was an issue as my panel would not support this due to the wiring. He was very I thorough in explaining it all to me. It took a couple of weeks to get a quote with persistence on my part. Luis came out and was very knowledgeable and determined to help me resolve all issues. I am happy that I chose an alternative to putting in all new wiring. It saved me a considerable amount of money and inconvenience, yet I now have 100% protection. I would recommend Andrews as they know their stuff and will spend a lot of time explaining in detail what and why certain updates should be done and I believe they did an excellent job."

"Damian was AWESOME! He arrived on time, spent way more time trouble shooting the issues than he charged for, found the problems & fixed them. He found a breaker in the panel that had 2 wires going to it when there should only be 1, one of the wires was showing signs of arcing so he installed a separate breaker for that & a new breaker for the other. He added an outdoor GFCI outlet to replace the one there that wasnt GFCI, he installed 2 hardwired smoke detectors & a CO smoke detector combo, inspected junction boxes in the attic & wiring in 2 ceiling fans to make sure the wiring had been done correctly. All of this was done at a very reasonable price. He also gave me a very reasonable quote to rewire the house as it has aluminum wiring, and I have been having issues with some of the circuits. I would definitely recommend him."

"Cannot agree more with the previous reviews! Had some electrical issues on an aging house so I called an electrical to correct. He bailed on me, so Kelvin came into my life. What a great guy and electrician. I found him via Thumbtack (local pro app). He immediately responded and we set up a time. He arrived on time and had to correct issues that went back before I moved into the home. He is so patient, knowledgeable, and professional! A huge relief knowing that my electrical is now worry free. I also had him replace some aged outdoor outlets. Will have him back to maintenance my solar panels in the spring. Can't give him enough stars and props! Highly highly recommend!"

"RPT Electric did an outstanding job wiring the new addition to my home. From start to finish, they were professional, reliable, and easy to work with. The crew showed up on time every day, kept the workspace clean, and made sure everything was done safely and up to code. They took the time to explain my options, helped with lighting layout ideas, and made sure every outlet, switch, and fixture was exactly where I wanted it. The finished work looks great, and everything functions perfectly. It’s clear they take pride in their craftsmanship. I’d highly recommend RPT Electric to anyone needing electrical work done—whether it’s a remodel, addition, or new build. Great people and top-quality service!"

"I chose Turn It On Electric because the electrician, Miguel, took the time to think through the wiring in such a way that it would have minimal impact on the drywall. Also, he did not try to talk me into "Easy" solutions, e.g., putting a new switch right by the new light vs running a wire to the existing switch box. I will use them again."

"I was notified ahead of time as to when he would be at my residence. Was here as scheduled, in uniform with all equipment required to perform the job. Note I supplied the LED fixtures. Was initially going to have 3 fixtures installed, but where I wanted the third fixture turned out to not be on a switch (hot all of the time) so canceled that portion of the job. Price was reduced accordingly. Note: Fixtures I supplied were originally plug-in, I choose to have them hard wired in. All work done expertly and efficiently. Received quote for electrical panel which I accepted. Initial down payment for that work was the cost of the permit to perform the job, which was extremely reasonable. Note: quote included manufacturer of panel and circuit breakers as per my request. Company will supply 1 of 3 panel manufactures, including Square D, GE and Siemens, all reputable manufacturers."

"Ron, very honest, said it wasn't water heater, but an electrical problem. Said I needed an electrician. It was an electrical problem. I will use Patrick Riley Plumbing if I have any plumbing problems."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Palo-Verde, AZ

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
