"5 stars! From the initial visit and estimate, to the completed job, AJ Waterproofing was professional, friendly, and honest. I had to install a French drain in my crawl space, since the existing sump pump was in the center of the floor, on a sloped foundation. No water ever made it there. They also washed the walls for mold, sealed up vents, and installed a dehumidifier. When I needed an electrician to run a line for the dehumidifier, they recommended Mike, who was also amazing. While doing the work, they placed plastic on the floors and furniture, so no dust or dirt made it through the crawl space access while they were working. They even built a ladder to gain access to the crawl space, instead of having to bring one out and set up to get down there. Highly recommend!"

Since they were both waterproofing (installing a sump pump system) and finishing the basement there were two different crews but each one was knowledgeable and took care and time to show me every step they were making. There were a few times where communication from the head office was a little lacking but the team members themselves were great. "All work appears to have been carried out professionally and with care. It was a complex situation involving using a wooded field across a road and up a hill from our house, replacing a WWII-era collapsing tank with pump-equipped modern tanks, and boring a tunnel under the road for access between the field and tanks. It took over a year to get the job done - Kristman is largely regarded as the best septic system folks in the area so demand on their services is quite high, slowing things down, plus the weather, once building began, frequently went sour. Kristman handled the health dept. permit while I handled the PennDOT permit to bore under the road. (Thinking back, it might have been better to have the boring subcontractor do the PennDOT permit as it required engineering information I did not know or understand but one of PennDOT's regional engineers helped me fill out the forms.) Kristman kept us in the loop and had no problem explaining what they were doing and answered all of our questions - the key here was I spent quite a bit of time studying septic systems so I knew enough to know what I needed to ask questions about. It was a tough job, but they got it done exactly on their price point, which was high but appropriate for the difficult area in which the field had to be installed.
