"Scheduling was easy and they showed up and executed the project the way that it was explained to me. We spray-foamed the basement and they accomplished the task flawlessly. Highly recommended."

"Job started a day later than scheduled due to their equipment being down. Job was originally scheduled for 5-7 days. Job actually took 2 weeks and salesman called into the third week saying the job was done. We have never had mold remediation done before and was selling our house. The explanation of how the job would go was vague at best. This is not a process we are familiar with having never been through it before. In the estimate there was a blanket statement of “any construction materials removed will not be replaced” (once again we were never explained anything about this process in regards to things being removed). Upon the job being completed the buyer noticed there was no mention of insulation replacement. We were 2 days from closing and had to hire someone to replace the insulation. The handyman hired to replace the insulation noticed other items had been removed by octagon. We were not left a list of items removed from the residence. I was just told by Matt Brown that “that’s why I gave you a referral of a weatherization company” for 8300$ one would think you might get a verbal explanation of items needing replacement or at least an itemized list. Hope we don’t need to go through this again because as Octagon will not be contacted again."

"I hired Kevin to do insulation work in my home in Bartlett, NH and I could not have asked for a better experience. He was very honest and knowledgeable from the very beginning and made us extremely comfortable and informed throughout the entire process. He was on time and very thorough. We had a couple estimates done and the price could not be beat! We had such a great experience and could not recommend Kevin enough!"

"I contacted a number of firms asking for a quote on awning installation and most did not even reply, even some that were well recommended. Only one other firm besides QHI responded, and they were booking 6-8 weeks out.
Bill Willings sent me an email reply on 01/01/16 indicating that he'd come by on 01/02/16 to look at the job. He was on time for the job review. The first thing he did was to give me a copy of his certificate of insurance. After he left I called his agency and the representative confirmed that his insurance was in force and warmly said that "he was a good one [a good client]." I'm an insurance agent so I knew that that response was a very positive omen.
The street I live on has strong wind gust issues at times - once I  came home after a storm to find the front storm door lying in three pieces on the front yard. The house is sided with vinyl siding. We discussed how to secure the awnings so that the wind could not rip them off because I did not think that just attaching the awnings via the bolts provided by the manufacturer would be sufficient. I had an idea, but Bill came up with a better one - removing some of the siding above the doors and attaching Azek horizontally and securing the awnings to the Azek. I had thought of doing this vertically but that would not have worked out. He gave me verbal quote and sent a confirming email with the written quote. The job was scheduled for 01/25/16. They were on time. The work took less time than expected Bill and his assistant Bob did a great job. Also they're both friendly.
The price reflects, in part, the travel distance from Otisfield to Portland (about an hour one way), and that's fair. I would hire them again.

"We needed a new roof for our home, and called various roofing companies in the area.  We even called some of the larger chain stores for their financing options.  We found that several of the companies spent more time talking about other companies instead of what they could do..  The Roof Doctors were responsive, had a no-pressure attitude, and were reasonably priced.  The owner answered all of our questions before starting, and the workers were very respectful of our home and property.  It was a great experience, and we would recommend them to anyone in need of repair/new roofing."

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

FAQs for batt, rolled or reflective insulation install or upgrade projects in Parsonsfield, ME

Batt insulation excels in vertical installations because it remains firmly in place and delivers consistent thermal performance. Blown-in insulation performs exceptionally in spaces such as attics, efficiently filling gaps in irregular areas.

Employing both insulation types according to their strengths enhances your home’s overall energy efficiency and comfort by providing a tailored solution for every space.

Start by measuring the square footage of the space, then match that area with the insulation thickness you need to hit your target R-value. Add a buffer for waste and odd-shaped spots so every cavity is covered.

Once you have a rough count, run it past a local insulation pro—their on-site advice will fine-tune the numbers and help you avoid costly miscalculations.

Old insulation that is dry, intact, and mold-free does not require removal before adding new insulation; stacking new insulation over it maintains effective thermal performance and boosts energy efficiency.

If the insulation is damp, moldy, or deteriorated, removal is necessary to eliminate health risks and ensure maximum effectiveness of the new layer. A professional insulation contractor will assess your situation and recommend the most effective solution.

Installing insulation in an average-sized home using batts or boards requires five to 12 hours. Using spray foam or blown-in insulation requires two to five hours. These timeframes are determined by the area’s size, accessibility, and whether old insulation must be removed.

Complex projects and hard-to-reach spaces demand extra time. Hiring an experienced insulation professional ensures that the installation is completed efficiently and correctly.

Insulation is measured by R-value, which defines how effectively it resists heat flow. A higher R-value provides superior thermal resistance, ensuring your home remains warm in winter and cool in summer.

Choosing the correct R-value is essential for maximizing energy efficiency and comfort, and it directly impacts long-term utility savings. Professional guidance determines the optimal R-value for your specific climate.
