"I was not happy with the carpet cleaning because they didn't move my furniture. They just cleaned the carpet around it. I thought the price was high for the service provided. I would not use them again for my carpet cleaning."

"Absolutely wonderful work done at an extremely reasonable price! Prentiss was always very friendly and helpful throughout the process of getting a quote, picking out our carpet & flooring, and setting up an install date. The services rendered went far above and beyond what was expected, and it was extremely nice to have such eager, polite and kind workers in our home. Would absolutely recommend and we are likely to reach out to Portage Flooring first if we ever need other flooring jobs completed in our home.!"

"I originally purchased the deal to install a doggie door in my basement door but needed additional work done also.  Tim contacted me and we discussed the doggie door and since he couldn't fit in the whole days work for quite a while and I needed the doggie door within 2 weeks, he told me he could fit me in for the doggie door but he would have to put me on his waiting list.  So here we go, right off the bat I had to pay for the doggie door separately because he had no time in his schedule for some time to fulfill a whole days work (got the $299 for a whole day)  After you purchase it, you find out that it is only for 6 1/2 hours of work or 3 1/4 hours if 2 guys are working on it.  When he came, he started the work but was having issues getting it all the way in.  So he pulled the door back out after working on it for a half hour and brought it up to show me what the issue was.  I asked him if he gave it all he had to push it in and he said he would try again.  Seems he had no problem getting it in after that.  So good he got it done, but con he wasted time taking it back out and putting it back in when he could have had me go down there to look at it.  When he arrived, I asked if he would have time to put together an entertainment center I had just purchased and found that it was way over 100 lbs so I could not assemble it like I thought I could.  He said yes but needed his helper.  After installing the doggie door, he started getting all the parts arranged and completed it when his helper finally arrived.  Tim did a good job so happy about that part of it.  Then scheduled him to do the baseboard to use my deal for the whole days work.  He arrived and set up the saw and got started and then his helper arrived and they completed the work. I was pleased with the work. <br /> Though Tim's work is good.  I was a little put off by his comments about his pricing.  He is a lot more expensive than other companies and he made some comments to defend his pricing and also talked about another client though he didn't name the person, of course.  Tim does a good job and he is overall a pleasant fellow, but I was disappointed with the overall value. <br />"

"Price I think "A" because we looked around and they were within the range of everybody else. It was funny because when I almost went in there I was expecting to have like a hard sale you know trying to sell me past line. When I told them what was needed they were really quick to accommodate and it was smooth. They told me they were going to be here with it. It took me a day to order it. It came when they said it was going to come not like two weeks or three weeks off."

"The process went very well. Our installers were prompt, efficient, skilled and left our home spotlessly clean. Empire's payment system is less than desired, but we ended up satisfied."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Paw Paw, MI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
