Was called the day of the appointment that they didn't need to come because they had info about the roof (I'm unclear from what source - Google maps?). Was called that evening with price of $24000 to replace roof. I'm uncomfortable with the idea of shelling out $24000 to someone who hasn't even inspected the roof to see what condition it is in. It's possible that the roof is the original (>20 years old and therefore may be nearing end of lifespan) but I don't know that for a fact (having been in the house much shorter than that time frame). I asked for a written estimate of what they would do and their assessment of the condition - I have not received anything. I think I will need to obtain a roof inspection first and perhaps from an independent company."
