"The crew is amazing and so professional and personable! They made the entire process of picking out carpet and flooring, scheduling and installation fit with my schedule. They completed the project on time and ensured I was satisfied with the work before leaving my house. They were immaculate with cleanup."

"G&M did an excellent job. I called knowing I had some pretty odorous carpet that needed replacement. I had a few ideas in mind, but wasn't exactly sure how to go about it. They showed up, gave samples, provided multiple quotes for different areas, qualities, etc. and even offered additional suggestions for me to do to help keep the pet odors (from prior owners) from recurring. They were comparable to "big box / free install" prices but definitely had that small operation level of personal service that can't be matched. I will definitely be calling them back to carpet the basement once the remodel work is completed."

"I sold my condo to a family member, and needed the carpet to be cleaned before she moved in later that day. The carpet was in TERRIBLE shape due to our cats throwing up often, and our kids just being kids. I was embarrassed by the state of the carpet and didn't want to leave it like that for my family member. The carpet cleaner showed up right on time, and did an amazing job. I couldn't believe how well he got the stains out! Because they were so bad, it did need a deeper clean than I had initially requested, but he gave us a price cut on the deeper clean. Then when it was done he texted me pictures of the carpets, which was really nice for me since I had already moved out of the home. It gave me the confidence that my family member could move in and I wouldn't cringe about the mess left behind! I felt like the service and responsiveness was above and beyond, and while I have a lot less carpet in my new home, I will definitely hire them again next time my carpets need cleaning."

"We were especially impressed with the installation crew -- Pat, in particular. The floor looks perfect and it was done quickly and professionally, and Pat and the crew were friendly and accommodating to our requests. I would highly recommend Hiller's to anyone. "Purchased Carpet on 8/26 with an install of 8/31 recived an automated call at 7:30am the morning of the install and said we would done in the afternoon that the installer had a previous job in the morning. We didn't hear anything until 2pm on the 31st when the installer called and said he will be there between 3:30 and 4:30PM. He arrived just after 4:30pm and it took him till 7:30pm to complete the job and he rushed through it, he was exhausted. This is the 2nd time we have used Empire and the previous time we went through the same exact experience. I called the company to discuss the issue with the general manager and he basically said "Not everyone can be first and if the installer arrived before 6pm that still is satisfactory to him... Umm? The work looks nice I stayed on top of job to ensure it was done correctly vs. the last time we used them and it was not done correctly."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Pine City, MN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
