"I contacted Sebastian's Carpet Care to get a quote on cleaning our basement carpet. The person on the phone stated that they could not give me a quote until they saw the carpet, but did give me a price range since I had the square footage. I was satisfied with the price range and scheduled the work. They called a before days before the appointment to confirm they had us on the schedule. Nathan showed up a bit early and did a great job. The price was close to the phone estimate. We will use Sebastian's again."

"Randy was most helpful from the first contact. He had me send photos of the issues and then gave an appropriate estimate, He confirmed the appointment the evening prior and let me know when he was on his way. He scoped out the work to be done, explained what he'd do, and completed it efficiently and neatly. His many years of experience were evident! I'm so glad he would come all the way to Chanhassen to solve my problem! You'd never know there had been any issues with the carpeting."

"I went to Tim after being disgusted by the treatment I received at Home Depot. He was very helpful with the carpet selection (I love it). He offered a better price that any big-box store. I was concerned about moving all the furniture to clear the area for install. TIm was very helpful with suggestions about the installation to minimize the stress of moving full rooms of furniture. This was very different from new construction, where nothing is in the way! I didn't even have to move all the clothing out of the closets! Just the lower racks. It took two days for the install and had to be scheduled to allow me time to move furniture, so it took a couple of weeks to complete. TIm was very accommodating to my schedule. He was prompt with all our appointments, from estimate to install. I would recommend Tim to others, and would use Tim Stegall Carpet again. <br />"

"G&M did an excellent job. I called knowing I had some pretty odorous carpet that needed replacement. I had a few ideas in mind, but wasn't exactly sure how to go about it. They showed up, gave samples, provided multiple quotes for different areas, qualities, etc. and even offered additional suggestions for me to do to help keep the pet odors (from prior owners) from recurring. They were comparable to "big box / free install" prices but definitely had that small operation level of personal service that can't be matched. I will definitely be calling them back to carpet the basement once the remodel work is completed."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Pine Island, MN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
