"<p>I looked all over for someone to convert my carpeted stairs over to hardwood stairs.  My husband was going to do it but I really wanted a professional job so I went to Angie's list and am I glad I did!  Phil came out and gave me a great price for the install job (my husband did the stain on the wood).  Phil worked within my timeframe and when we ran into a problem Phil worked with us to do the job over 2 days instead of 1 and he didn't charge us more money...Phil is the best!!  </p> <p>We had already had the new floors put in but the trim wasn't completed because we were waiting for the stairs to be completed and Phil finished the trim at no additional charge.  Phil knew how worried I was about damaging my new floors and he covered the floors the whole time he worked.  I am so grateful for Phil and I have already recommended him to my friends.  Phil gets a all around 10 from me...Thanks Phil :-)</p> <br />"

"We went in not knowing what we wanted. Steve was very helpful with product choices. He came out to measure and made recommendations. He gave us an estimate and when we weren't quite ready to fund the project he said he would keep our information. Sure enough 1 year later we contacted him and he still had our original estimate with all of the products we wanted. Once the project was started, Dimitri and his son were amazing and put in very long days until the job was done. They were very meticulous and did an outstanding job. We will definitely go back for our next flooring project."

FLOORS TO GO

"When my wife and I decided to replace the carpet with either laminate or <br /> hardwood, we went to several different flooring companies to get quotes <br /> and get information.  Floors to go was our 3rd visit.  Cameron the  <br /> owner spent a good 40 minutes explaining the differences between various <br /> floor types, pros and cons and showing us samples to take home.  <br /> Chris who came to take the measurements at our home and he was also the  <br /> installer.  Chris stayed a good hour just talking and explaining how the <br /> install would go, and what to expect, and answered all my questions.  <br />  Floors to go was not the cheapest (nor the most expensive) but their  <br /> attentiveness and willingness to address any concerns we had, no matter  <br /> how small the details won our business.  <br /> The install didn't go perfect, there was a small problem regarding a mess left from removing  <br /> the grout, but Cameron took care of it, and the problem was solved. The  <br /> way I see it, mistakes happen, sometimes things can be overlooked, what  <br /> matters is how the company rectifies the mistake, and Cameron did just  <br /> that, they fixed it 100% made sure I was satisfied with the solution and <br /> moved on.  <br /> After the install was finished, there were a few spots I had a concern about. No problem, Chris was over the next day (On <br /> a Saturday!) to fix the issue.  It's unreasonable for me to expect  <br /> everything to be perfect the first time, what matters to me is the  <br /> company's response to the problems. Cameron and Chris were awesome.  <br /> After winter we will be looking into new carpet for the bedrooms, and we <br /> will absolutely go back to Floors to Go for this. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Placerville, CA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
