Customers say: Quick response

"Robert Lujan is an expert technician, and a real asset to the company. His evaluation before he began the work was complete and clear. When he began the work he was fast, clean, and efficient. In a world of often-times flaky contractors, his was a real standout performance. We’re so glad we called A1 !!!!!"

"I would not recommend their service. I already knew the problem before the technician came out. I needed a belt replacement and he said the belt needed replacing since it was older and brittle. I do not remember him saying anything about the motor needing replacing...BUT since it was an older piece of equipment that you could get a Lowe's he could not help me BUT could replace with a new unit for >$800. So for a service fee of >$69, I could purchase a new unit or buy a belt at Lowe's."

"This company really knows how to do business. Every communication was satisfying and impressive. John, the owner, didn’t rush through the initial estimate and took care and time to answer our many questions. The team that was assigned to our job, Jacob and Antonio, were fabulous. They are consummate professionals, dependable, punctual, communicative and hard working. We have a lot more painting to do and we would not consider using any other company for it. They’ve spoiled us. I wish other contractor services were like them."

FAQs for garage door opener repair or adjustment projects in Placitas, NM

Garage door costs range somewhat broadly, depending on the type you choose. However, you’ll also need to factor in labor costs, which vary from state to state and between pros.

A chain driven operator costs between $150 - $250. For a belt driven operator it is usually $160 - $450. A screw-driven operator is between $250-$500.

To keep garage door opener repair costs down, you should check that the whole apparatus is working normally on a regular basis. This means making sure that the tracks of your door are greased and fully operational, and that the door itself is in good condition.

Installing a new garage door opener runs from $250 to $500 at least. If your repair costs are close in cost to that range or if your garage door is 10 to 15 years old, you should probably replace it instead of repair.

However, it’s a better idea to fix your garage door opener if it’s less than eight years old or if repair costs are less than replacing.

Garage door openers usually last between 10 and 15 years. However, several factors contribute to how long your garage door opener can last. If you schedule regular inspections and practice proper care, you can maximize your garage door opener’s lifespan, saving money in the long run. As a general rule, practice the same care for your garage door opener as you would the door itself.

These tell-tale signs indicate your garage door is going bad, including:

  • Not closing or opening at all

  • The door reversing when you try to open and/or close it

  • Inconsistent opening and closing; more noise than usual (grinding, scraping, or banging)

  • Sticking or stalling when you try to open or close it

If you experience one or more of these signs, it’s time to call a professional garage door repair service.
