"I reached out to Premier Flooring in the afternoon and Javier Ramos from Premier Flooring responded within the hour. The next morning Javier met us at the job site to discuss the job and work out details for getting the materials from the carpet supplier. The very next morning Javier and his crew were picking up the purchased carpet and pad to begin the installation. As soon as they arrived at the job site, I could tell that these guys were very experienced. They worked as a team quickly removing the old carpeting/padding and preparing the sub-floor for the installation. They were able to complete the entire 2nd floor carpet installation without the need for a single seam. Very impressive! They were highly effective, the carpet was installed flawlessly, and there was virtually no damage whatsoever to any of the newly installed and painted baseboards. They hauled away all of the old materials for disposal and the entire job was completed by noon. I've worked with many contractors over my lifetime and I can honestly say that Javier and his crew from Premier Flooring are one of the best at their craft."

"They were recommended by my neighbor who is in the carpet business. I liked them. It's a small operation. When I called him, I got a voice mail. The guy called me back in about 10 minutes after I had placed the call. He gave me a quote over the phone for what I was looking for. He showed up on time when he said he would be here. He did some extra work on one area that needed some extra cleaning. I ended up paying exactly what he told me it was going to cost when we talked about it on the phone. He cleaned up some areas that were pretty soiled that hadn't been cleaned for a long time. I thought he did a pretty good job of cleaning it all up. Overall, I was very pleased with the work that they did. Apparently, it's a father and son operation. I don't think it's a very large company. The father takes the calls and the son comes out and does the work. I thought it was a fair price. I was impressed with their responsiveness. He said he would be here at a certain time and he showed up right on time. There was no re-negotiating the price. When I told him I would pay extra if there was a really bad spot, he said that it was not a problem and that when they quoted a price they would do it for us. They were very professional. My wife is in hospital for long term care and I need to downsize as I am in the process of selling the house. I plan to get them do the upstairs for me once I get it cleaned out and get the excess furniture out."

"they were on time and finished the work in the estimated time. It did take 10 days for carpet to arrive as with all places we checked: Lowe's, Home depot and a family owned business in Pale Alto. <br />"

"This vendor is nothing short of AMAZING.  Super courteous, responsive, and very engaged in wanting to do the right thing for me.  The Sales Rep that I worked with, Amie, was great at giving me the quote I asked for and providing various options.  She followed up a few times, but was never pushy of overbearing.  Just a really A+++ experience even though I did not use them. <br />"

"From the first contact with Jim until the last room was laid, we were very pleased with Conklin Brothers. Not living in this area but helping out my parents, I consulted Angie's List. This is where I found the great reviews on Conklin Brothers. My need was immediate. I was bringing my father home on hospice. Within one week, the carpet was  measured, ordered and laid. I was so impressed with the value and timely response I asked Jim to come out and do the little cottage. Another great job with excellent results. Thank you Jim <br />"

"Submitted a question on Angie's List about whether Gary did free quotes and whether furniture needed to be moved around for carpet re-stretching.  Received a call very quickly from Marsha, his wife - she was lovely and said that Gary could be out for a free estimate that week.  Gary arrived right on time, gave us our quote and said that he had time to fix our issue before going to his next customer which was very convenient for us.  I can't believe how great the carpet looks - brand new and no sign of the previous speed bumps.  Gary was super friendly and worked very hard.  I feel very fortunate to have found someone that knows their stuff and will be using him in the future should any other carpet issues come up as well as telling my friends and family about him.  Good workers are hard to come by these days - you will not be disappointed by the customer service you get here. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Pleasant Hill, CA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
