"I hired Kascon to do asbestos abatement in my attic. I worked with Keith Carroll as my primary contact, he was outstanding. Keith was prompt courteous knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The back office crew was equally oppressive in assisting me with documentation billing etc. as were the gentlemen who showed up to do the abatement work. They were neat and meticulous, showed up when they said they were going to show and did a great job cleaning out not only the asbestos but contaminated wood and materials. Would absolutely recommend this company to anyone who needs asbestos abatement work done. Ask for Keith, you will not be disappointed."

"Kevin was extremely professional, arrived on time, explained everything he was going to do. He sealed up the entire area he was working in and remained in the area until he was done. He walked us through the work that needed to be done and when he was finished he walked us through the completed work pointing out everything he had done. I would recommend him and his services to everyone in need of asbestos abatement.."

"I was very anxious and apprehensive about the removal of asbestos. They were professional, kind, sympathetic, courteous and showed concerns and care for me. They got the job done in a timely manner and supply paperwork to ConEd in two days of completion of work. Mr Emmanuel was very supportive, caring and did excellent quality work. I am so glad I was able to use them for the work. I would recommend them to the public or a friend. I am well pleased and happy about a job well done. Thanks Cappa for doing an excellent job"

"Iâ m completely satisfied with the work of Bright Light Star Corp. I think I had an extreme situation (but perhaps not too uncommon) with the asbestos in the house I bought that was build about a century ago and for which I decided to do a gut renovation. The asbestos was used in so many places: around the pipes, in an insulation layer under the carpets, in the 9x9 tiles under the regular tiles and even on the original plaster walls. Roman, the companyâ s owner, came for a consultation and he was very nice. After looking at the asbestos lab report he gave me a competitive quote. I did compare it with some other companies but not only was I ok with the numbers, but I had the feeling I could really trust Roman and his company. And indeed they did a great job, they followed all regulations, and I got the certification afterwords. I was also impressed he asked me if there were neighborhoods noise rules and he took the time to explain the immediate neighbors that his companyâ s work was absolutely safe and there wouldnâ t have been any emissions outside my house (and there was indeed a 3rd party company monitoring the air all the time). So, I definitely recommend Bright Light Star Corp to anyone that needs to get rid of the asbestos in their house."

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in Pleasantville, NY

Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring mineral fibers once commonly used in building materials because of their resistance to heat, electricity, and corrosion. However, in 1975, research confirmed that these fibers cause mesothelioma and other cancers, leading to strict usage laws. If your home contains asbestos, removing it can prevent long-term health effects. You'll often find asbestos in the flooring, ceilings, pipes, and roofing of homes built before the 1990s. Common asbestos-containing materials include vermiculite insulation, vinyl flooring, millboard, and corrugated roofing. If you suspect you have asbestos or any of these materials in your home, it's important to hire a reputable abatement company to perform testing.

Currently, there is no federal licensing mandate for asbestos removal contractors. However, certain cities and states require certification and specialized training. For example, in some areas, contractors handling asbestos must receive an Asbestos Handler Certification. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure any contractor you hire meets the necessary requirements.

Homes constructed before the 1990s can conceal asbestos within building materials, and testing provides a definitive answer. You should have your home tested by a certified asbestos inspection service. This professional evaluation identifies hazardous materials and determines whether removal or encapsulation is necessary. Testing safeguards your family’s health and supports smart budgeting for remediation.

Federal law does not require you to disclose the presence of asbestos when selling your home. However, certain states and local jurisdictions impose disclosure regulations that you must follow. Testing and professional remediation confirm that hazardous materials are properly managed. This proactive approach not only meets legal requirements but also protects your property’s value and buyer health.

Asbestos removal affects a home’s resale value because hazardous materials can deter potential buyers. Having toxic substances present lowers buyer confidence and may reduce the property’s value by 1% to 15% if not addressed. Professional remediation ensures safety standards are met and preserves marketability, protecting your long-term investment.

Grants exist at both federal and state levels to support asbestos testing and removal projects. Local housing programs may also offer financial assistance when asbestos is discovered during home repairs. Meeting certification and testing standards is required to secure these funds, which help to manage overall project costs while ensuring safe remediation.
