"My house is a small (24x20) 2-story woodframe house built in 1883. When I moved in, the attic and 2nd floor ceiling were completely insulated and the walls around the kitchen (the back lower quadrant) had enjoyed a 1990s renovation to replace 2 windows -- resulting in a fibreglass insulation in that area of the house. The rest of the walls were not insulated. There was no nogging or sheathing so the walls were thin and didn't hold heat really. The ambient temperature fluctuated markedly. My concern about blow-in insulation was the necessity to create holes in the walls - from the outside, this would look less than ideal. And I was aprehensive about how invasive a job blowing in insulation from the inside would be. Of the many insulating professionals I sought quotes from over the past 2 years, Tom Gonzoles was the most responsive, respectful and flexible in terms of my needs to preserve the integrity of the orignal siding of the house, and perform a low-impact service. Tom's quote was reasonable and patient. Tom provided me with solid references and was generally very understanding and patient whle I deliberated between blow-in from the inside or the outside, and while I solidified my financing. On the day of the job, Tom and 2 associates arrived on time and got started right away. Tom worked alongside his associates - which I believe recommends Tom and his work. He is a professional with almost 30 years in this business and he has respect for the work and sees to it that it is performed correctly, by him and his associates all the while. Tom explained the process thoroughly, discussed the alternatives associated with certain obstructions such as radiators and pipe chases. He further explained the construction of my house as he worked, pointing out construction details to be mindful of for future reference. There was a slight adjustment ($100) for additional work neither of us expected on account of the way the attic insulation was prepared. This was openly discussed and fairly valued. Throughout the job, Tom and his associates were professional, friendly and clean-as-you-go. Before they left they made sure the house was as dust-free as when they arrived. I can't recommend Tom highly enough. I'm VERY VERY HAPPY WITH THE WORK PERFORMED!"
