".This visit occurred prior to Orville selling the business. I have always been satisfied with Mr. Hay's work. He was always up front about his recommendations and what he thought best for the situation and the estimated costs. He was our first choice of plumbers in the Jacksonville area.
However in 2014, it is a different story. We needed to have the sump pumps and garbage disposal replaced. Tried contacting the business several times without success. We left messages, but did not receive any follow up contact. I do know that at the time, they were involved with a large job at the grain elevators south of town.
We finally got tired of leaving messages. We utilized Manchester Heating and Plumbing. I was able to talk to a person versus an answering machine. Chad arrived promptly and efficiently installed the sumps and garbage disposal at a very reasonable price. He arrived on time and is very professional. He is fair and honest in his pricing and estimates. I would highly recommend this local independent contractor.
"

"when tech showed up the dryer seemed to be working and heating however it did not when I called, seemed the heating element was cracked creating and off and on working condition. I went ahead to repair the problem by purchasing a new heating element. I was surprised however that the tech expected me to pay in full before he ordered the part and repaired the problem, but I did using my credit card knowing if there was a issue the credit card co. would have my back, The part was order and Alex fixed it as soon as it came in and was great"

"The report was very professional and detailed. The response was fast. The price was expensive but due to the detail, understandable. I wouldn't hire again due to multiple requests for a completed report and estimate for the mold remediation and just getting robotic replies that didn't answer my questions."

"I was given a window between 1pm and 2pm for an estimate. The guy showed up almost an hour late. After determining what was leaking he went to home depot to get the replacement part. I still had not been given an estimate.
He gets back and replaces the part maybe 45mins at home depot and 15 mins at my house, then has no idea what to charge me. Here is where I realize I'm in trouble. He waits about an hour to talk to his boss and see what the charge would be, so much for getting an estimate before hand. He finally gets ahold of the guy then tells me its $185. I asked him if that included the 10% angies list discount listed on angies list and he shrugs and says "uh, I think so", right.
So basically I feel like a dope for not demanding an estimate before he booked it out to the store, but still that's a little ridiculous. I won't be using McDonah again.
The work however was fine, he left it in better condition then it was.
"

"There was a cave-in at one location outside the foundation where they had put their equipment, and they came quickly to repair it. They did not clean up very well after themselves for the interior work, and they left cracked tile. They have not come back to look at the extra cracks."

"The visit went well they are kind and went to work immediately. They took al measures possible to ensure that they would not get the house dirty, which they made very obvious through the use of gloves and booties when they were upstairs. The clog was 150 feet into the pipe at an elbow and even though they broke 400 Dollars worth Of cable they kept trying to get the clog. They ended up braking the cable in the pipe due to the decreped condition of my pipes. At 1:30 am we called it a night for the next three days they heroically fought to retrieve the cable without digging in the lawn or driveway. On the third day they succeeded by going deep into the city sewer to retrieve the auger and saved my drive way, and me. I though the worst, as in my bill would be astronomical. Nope, the owner of this fairly large company called me personally and we worked out a price. He charged me for the original call only what a great end to a horrifying problem they fixed everything. They get an A.
"

"Brandon was quick to respond to my first phone call, and was out the next day to repair two toilets and fix a broken tub faucet. He worked very quickly, cleaned up after himself, and his final charge was within $5 of his phone estimate. I was so impressed we brought him back to install a new dishwasher the next week. And just like the first job, he was quick, clean, and within $5 of his phone estimate. I look forward to Heartland Plumbing helping with any other plumbing issues I encounter!
"

"I feel bad because this was one of the best companies that I have ever dealt with. I think we had 3 different crews and they were all great. Here's my problem and it wouldn't cause me to not recommend them or use them again myself. From the time I signed the contract to the time the work was scheduled the salesman that I worked with either left or was terminated. When the crew got here they didn't seem to know what to do and asked me if I had planned to provide my own sump pump. One of them also told me that if I would just open the vents in my crawlspace it would dry out on it's own. This is against everything they recommend as I was sold on sealing the crawlspace and I'm glad I did. They have a system called and quot;Ice Guerdand quot; where they bury the discharge line from the pump and have a mechanism to keep it from freezing in the winter. The salesman showed me this and I was lead to believe I was getting it. The crew that came told me they would need another 350.00 to do that so instead I have a 12 foot pipe sticking out into my backyard. I expressed my disappointment on the exit survey and received a nice call from Bix telling me they would be back to install it no charge. Of course I was thrilled thinking this was above and beyond what most contractors would do. I was scheduled twice but had to be cancelled because of rain. I sent an e-mail a couple of months ago asking about it but did not receive a reply and I called a month ago and talked to a real nice lady who said someone would call to re-schedule. So far nothing. I'm a bit worried that If I have a warranty problem I'm going to get the same treatment. I even expressed interest in signing a service contract to have a yearly inspection but also did not receive a reply. Again, a good company that did a great job at a reasonable price. I just think maybe they have too much business to keep up with.
"

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Plymouth, IL

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
