"Great! We called Kevin who was recommended by a friend and we're glad we did! He put in a new custom fitted door and hung it in the existing door frame complete with standard locking knob and deadbolt lock. We could not be happier with the work! Top notch professional all the way. We plan on using Kevin again for any remodeling needs that we have!"

"Although the project is about two more weeks until completion, I am comfortable saying I made the best choice in selecting DreamWorks for the job.  I am very impressed with the staff and quality of the work.  Everyone is professional, prompt and takes pride in the work and attention to detail.  The tile work was precise and beautiful.  The care in keeping dust to a minimum was appreciated.  The crew cleans up each day. I have NO complaints.  I highly recommend DreamWorks!! <br />"

"The day after I called them, Dan, Serge and their interior crew came right out as scheduled. After we signed the contract and gave them our insurance deductible as payment, they got right to work. It was really amazing how rapidly they were able to remove the damaged carpet and padding from our master-bedroom and living room. They then placed two dehumidifiers and 3 large air blowers in the affected areas in order to dry out the damaged walls and flooring. They also drilled multiple small holes in the drywall in order to put hosing in there to dry out the inside of the wall too. <br /> After the driers had run for a couple of days, Dan returned with his painting crew to start the painting on the interior walls. They took great care to carefully move all the wall items and furniture from the room and then cover it with plastic for protection. They continued to patch the walls where needed, replaced floor molding and then painted the entire room with the colors we selected. They continued this procedure over a period of time into our living room and family room areas until all looked like new again. <br /> Dan coordinated the other trades that followed the interior painting. Their carpet folks did an excellent job of supplying and installing the new carpet and padding we selected. Even though they had to do the installation in two phases, they didn't complain and each time they came, all our furniture was very carefully moved then replace after the install was completed. Alliance used their own crew to remove and replace the wood laminate flooring in our family-room and it looked even better than the flooring looked before when it was new! <br /> Since Alliance was already on the job for our insurance company, we decided to have them contract some other repairs to our roof-top chimney, surrounding roofing, an exterior frame/stucco wall repair and 3 gable ends made of wood that needed replacement. We also had them repaint 2 bathroom areas that had not been water damaged. Each area of repair was surveyed by Serge and a professional quote was given for the work needed. Their prices were reasonable for this extra work so we had them begin right away. (See my review for Custom Construction which did most of this added work for Alliance on the exterior) <br /> All of the extra work that we paid for directly was completed in a timely manner and was even better and stronger than the original work that had been done 32-years earlier. Serge followed through to the very end of the job and even had his roofer return to make one area right that the first crew missed. <br /> We are totally satisfied with all the work that Alliance Construction did for us and would never hesitate to recommend them to others that have need of their services. It turned a terrible situation (the storm damage) into a pleasant experience and a Quality final product that we can enjoy for many years to come."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Port Salerno, FL

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
