"Install was easy. Up front cost was pretty low with Angie's List coupon. Monthly price is a little high compared to competing companies. Response time with alarms is excellent. I was advised to use glass break alarms within 10 ft of my first floor windows, which we installed correctly. I asked prior to installation if having one in the kitchen would cause false alarms due to dishes clanging, etc. I was told the glass break alarms are configured to a precise frequency that alarms with breaking glass. So, not a "no", but not really an answer. Well, every time we cook dinner, wash dishes or empty the dish washer, the kitchen glass break alarm gives a warning which would sound the alarm if it was set. This has caused us a number of false alarms while we've been away due to shifting bowls or plates in our drying rack. For the first several we've had to pay our police department $120 to check the house, and I was only notified after the first alarm that there was a cheaper option for a security company to drive by to check for a break in."

"Bill was the second compay i called. This first was high priced for what I considered painting/patching work. Bill was able to come right over the next morning and start working right away. He was very fair with the fact that I might be paying him more for the drive to Scarborough from Standish than he was going to spend repairing the hole. It was an honest warning and I appreciated that.. That warning was why I added the other work (sliders) as he was already here. He came back each morning and added another coat of mud and the last day he sanded and pained the ceiling and the part of the wall effected by the repairs. I was impressed with how neat he was, using a dust pan/drop cloth/plastic, etc. and cleaning up each step of the way, each and every day. One of the real nice options that Bill offered was that if I supplied the material, he would gladly install it. Too many contractors are trying to make money off materials and we all can easily find out what they cost, and that was definetily the case with the first company i called. Bill actually prefered it, and it was really a nice option for those of us willing to pick up the material. The price was similar in the end to the estimate I got from the first company, but I got a lot more done for it (slider framing/Sheetrock repair, and trim work)
The work was good quality, but the best was his promptness and his pricing, and how easy to deal with he was.
I got an estimate to do the family room and it was reasonable. I will be schduling that work for late January.

"It was an extremely cold day, installer didn't seem to mind working in that type of weather, seemed efficient and did the work as quickly as possible.
In the process he knocked down an antique pottery bird bottle, broke that, didn't mention it. also when project completed he came to us with paperwork, indicated it was for his rating in order to be paid, did not even mention the fact that we were obligating ourselves to a two year contract @ $80 plus dollars! Had I known this prior we would have gone with another company

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
