"Steve came over and gave us some good news (not a foundation problem), but also gave us a reference to someone who repairs concrete for the type of problem we have. He really knew all about these issues and told us some signs to look for that would indicate a real foundation problem. Very pleasant company to deal with."

"From the first visit to my home from Sean for an estimate, to the crew that arrived to do the project I was impressed. Everyone was extremely professional. The crew arrived on time, the crew leader introduced me to the rest of the crew and explained how they would proceed with the project. They protected the work spaces with plastic from my garage to the crawl space opening in side my closet. They went to work and kept me informed about the progress. The whole crew worked very efficiently and got the project done in one day. They left work area spotless when they were done. I would highly recommend this company for any waterproofing project!!"

"I contacted Foundations First NorthWest and a couple of other contractors when an inspection revealed some foundation settling and crawl space damage. I chose Foundations First to make the repairs because they included more work, and at a lower price, than their competitors. I can't say enough about how professional everyone at Foundations First NorthWest was, from the first meeting with the sales rep to the constant communication with office staff throughout the project. Every step was completed without a hitch -- getting permits, engineering, the repair work and county inspections. The work crews worked quickly and efficiently on both the installation of stabilizing foundation piers, and also on the crawl space repairs. And they left the work areas in a very clean condition. I highly recommend Foundations First!"

"After meeting and getting quotes from 6 other contractors we felt most confident and comfortable choosing Cretec Concrete. Spencer was very prompt meeting with us and delivered a quote the next business day. We knew aster discussing our needs his company would be the right fit. Our project consisted of a complete demolition of existing concrete patio, removal of grass and regrading the area to accommodate a new drainage channel. Our new patio is over 1400 square feet that is colored and stamped. It is exactly what we were looking for maybe even better than our expectations! Spencer and his crew were very friendly and professional. They completed the job in even less time than we anticipated. We would definitely hire Cretec Concrete for any future concrete needs"

"They ended up knocking off some off the bill because things were not completely level. They said if I raised it more, the walls would crack. They were super nice but just not sure how things should have gone. I would have liked to have had pictures."

"It was a dream working with Jeff. Knowing I was dealing with health issues, he took me under his wings and took care of me. Other companies I previously talked to didn't even attempt to find a solution to the problem I was having that would be affordable for me, but Jeff went above and beyond to help me. Beyond just saving me THOUSANDS of dollars, he walked me through the whole process and did tests making sure nothing was missed that might need to be addressed so when I put the house on the market again the inspectors will be happy. I just can't say enough nice things about this company, aka Foundation King, they truly care about their clients."

"From the first phone call to Marie in the office, planning the work and materials with Brian, and the very efficient crew who worked so hard, everyone at Shannon Landscape & Construction did their work professionally, and in a timely manner. After an amended proposal was agreed upon, the crew started on Monday, September 30th, and finished on Friday, October 3rd.  Each day work started on time and continued till the clean-up at the end of each day.  Although we were impressed at the final inspection, and paid the total billing amount, two days later I noticed that a line of river rock placed over the French drain was not extended the full three feet from the foundation as described in the final proposal.  I called Marie, who alerted Brian, who sent two men to correct the problem right away.  We have received many compliments and how clean and well designed our yard looks now.  Great Job!

FAQs for concrete foundation raise projects in Portland, OR

On average, it takes two to seven days to physically raise your house. However, this does not include the preparation work, which is often the most lengthy process. The entire project, including preparation, obtaining permits, disconnecting utilities, and any subsequent landscaping, can take four to eight weeks. This timeline ensures everything is done safely and that your home remains structurally sound.

If proper safety protocols are not followed, raising a house can cause severe damage, as the process involves applying controlled force to the home's structure. The risks involved make it crucial to hire a skilled contractor who uses engineered methods to secure your home and prevent any harm to your household.

If your foundation shows signs of instability after raising your home, you might need to add structural support. A structural engineer can assess your foundation and recommend reinforcements to ensure your house stays stable and safe for the long term. Available support options include installing additional piers or pilings, reinforcing existing footings, or using steel beams to distribute the load more evenly.

You will need a structural engineer to assess your home before you begin. These professionals determine whether your house is suitable for lifting and identify any issues that could compromise its stability. Their expertise ensures that the project is designed correctly and all risks are managed to achieve a successful lift.
