"Great! I had this work performed in March 2018. Summer 2018 has seen constant rain and flash flooding. Previously I would have had several feet of water in my basement from the saturating rain and storms that came through together (5+inches in 6 hours with 12 inches in 48hrs in already wet ground). Basement has been completely dry. I thought work would be more noticeable. The concrete over the drain is nicely done. No complaints about the work, better results than I expected (I expected it to be more noticeable)."

"The man and his sub-contractor were good. He answers and explains anything that my husband had questions about. My husband wasn't happy on the garage door that they did so they adjusted it and it solved the problem."

"I live in a house that is over 100 years old with a stone foundation that also forms the basement walls. The old mortar between the stones had deteriorated over the years to the point that water would seep in in multiple places along the perimeter of the basement wall. This seepage basically occurred after every rain, and I always needed to move objects stored in the basement away from the perimeter for fear that they would be water damaged. I actually wasn’t very confident that the seepage problem could be fixed, but I finally decided to contact several basement contractors to determine if there was anyway to waterproof the basement. I ultimately decided to hire Basement Gurus because Mike (initial company contact) sold me on the idea and that their workers were the best in the business. Well, it’s been seven weeks since the basement work was completed, and even though we’ve had a couple of nor’easters with heavy rain blow through the area, the basement has been bone dry; the basement work has been a resounding success! I take my hat off to all the good folks at Basement Gurus, in particular Mark, Dylan, Lenny and the other members of the team that worked hard to waterproof my basement. In sum, I would highly recommend to other homeowners who may be experiencing similar basemen water seepage problems to consider Basement Gurus as their “go-to” company."

"

We called John at Palmyra Waterproofing Co. and on March 31, 2012 he came to our home and gave us an estimate of $3000 to do the work.  He told us that they had just finished their last job from the flooding that had occurred.. I am sure that we all remember the rain and flooding.  John was able to schedule our work to be done the next week and that it would take 2 days and possibly 3.
Well Don, Don Jr. & CJ showed up on time and ready to work.  They were all so nice and considerate.  It was a pleasure to have a company come in and be pleasant and to joke with.  It isn't easy to dig up concrete and haul it out and load in stones etc.  They were diligent in their work and very respectful of our home.  They have this gigantic fan that they used to take the dust out while they were working.  That was fantastic because I was really dreading the dust coming upstairs.  At the end of each day, they cleaned the work area.  They swept it up and put their equipment in one place.
We are so glad that we chose Palmyra Waterproofing.  Actually we had them come back in late May and do another room.  We should have listened to the experts but we thought the dampness in the other room was from the family room.  We had a few heavy rains and since everything was moved out of that room we could see where water was coming in.  We called them and John came out with an estimate and the same guys showed up and completed that work in 1 day.  I was glad that it was the same guys because I was not able to stay home that day and I felt comfortable leaving the house.
Again just like the first time, they were on time and ready to work and with great attitudes.
We have no problem with recommending this company to anyone and everyone.  They are TERRIFIC..

"I wqill mprobably wait bThe meeting and ensuing discussions went very well. George is a big likeable guy who sticks to the facts and does not  exert any pressure on the potential customer. He outlined an engineering solution to invasive moisture and foundation erosion by building a sub-terainian trench around the house and inserting high quality  plastic piping to sustain a continued drain-off of the moisture. The  solution by its very nature is labor intensive and I thought that the price of approximately $3500 was reasonable. I currently do not have this problem so awhile. If i had water in my basement, I don't think I would hesitate.

"Not only are Simmers and Sons experts Masons they are accomplished artists as well. They work they performed was the highest quality. They take great pride in their work and see to the finest of details. From the very beginning of the project to the very end they were in constant communication as to the progress of the project. We actually went to the quarry to pick out the Bluestone for our patio with them which was a nice feature. They also spent time with us after the project was done to explain how to take care of our investment. They also keep in contact with us after the project was done to make sure their work is up to our standards. This was a very pleasant customer experience and would hire them again for any other masonry work we would need to have done."

"Job took 1 1/2 days to complete. Do cover everything in sight and put additional plastic walls up. Any carpeted stairs should be covered with a runner type plastic that adheres to carpet so no movement. Our basement was finished and no outside exit, so all concrete, stones, etc. had to be carried outside by bucketfuls using the front door. I advise not running the heating or cooling system while job in progress to prevent the fine dust from filtering thru the house. It does that enough anyway. Also leave your coverings on for a few days to let everything settle and run a dehumidifer to help dry the concrete."

FAQs for concrete foundation raise projects in Harrisburg, PA

On average, it takes two to seven days to physically raise your house. However, this does not include the preparation work, which is often the most lengthy process. The entire project, including preparation, obtaining permits, disconnecting utilities, and any subsequent landscaping, can take four to eight weeks. This timeline ensures everything is done safely and that your home remains structurally sound.

If proper safety protocols are not followed, raising a house can cause severe damage, as the process involves applying controlled force to the home's structure. The risks involved make it crucial to hire a skilled contractor who uses engineered methods to secure your home and prevent any harm to your household.

If your foundation shows signs of instability after raising your home, you might need to add structural support. A structural engineer can assess your foundation and recommend reinforcements to ensure your house stays stable and safe for the long term. Available support options include installing additional piers or pilings, reinforcing existing footings, or using steel beams to distribute the load more evenly.

You will need a structural engineer to assess your home before you begin. These professionals determine whether your house is suitable for lifting and identify any issues that could compromise its stability. Their expertise ensures that the project is designed correctly and all risks are managed to achieve a successful lift.
