"Hackney Carpet was recommended to us by our realtor.  We met both Jeff and Donna, who were personable and professional.  Requested a quote for removing our 1974 glued-down carpet in our basement and on stairs leading to basement.  Jeff brought samples to our house, and recommended a few carpets, based on our color and texture desires, as well as the fact that our basement is damp.  He gave us an estimate on the spot.  We felt like the price was good, so we paid a 25% downpayment.  We scheduled installation for 8 days later.  Juan was the lead installer (3 installers, total).  The team was prompt, polite, professional, and fast! They finished the job in about 4 hours, and we paid the balance due.  We are so happy with the look and feel of our new carpet.  We highly recommended Hackney Carpet. <br />"

"AWESOME! My husband called Hughes Dry and they explained their system very thoroughly - both on the phone and in person. We had four rooms cleaned and they look fabulous. Our basement carpeting was trashed as we recently had a party. It looks like new now! Everything smells great and it's not wet and soggy. In the past we have used carpet cleaning companies that have left our carpets drenched and smelling like a wet dog! This experience and outcome were 100% better. I highly recommend Hughes Dry. Their service and process are worth it!"

"Rob was a pleasure to deal with.  Great communication from first contact.  On time and performed good quality work for the same price he quoted me on the phone.  I had half a room of carpet pulled up because we got water in our basement.  Rob reinstalled and stretched the old carpet, repaired some of the padding and repaired an area where the seam was ripped.  I also had him do a few extra things like tighten up the carpeting on my stairs while he was here.  Highly recommend and would use Rob again for sure! <br />"

"I called to have some carpet replaced in a rental unit and they were very speedy to make an appointment, worked with me on installation, and on the day of installation they were done is just a couple hours!  I plan to have them replace the remaining carpet in that unit as well as the carpet in my own home---they were GREAT!!! <br />"

"I couldn't be happier with this company. Brian's (owner) communication start to finish was excellent. Our tech was punctual, courteous and worked very hard to do the best work possible. Brian followed up to make sure we were happy with their work. We had some areas we weren't sure were stains or wear so Brian himself came for a follow up and made sure we were satisfied before leaving. When I need carpet or upholstery cleaning in the future I won't hesitate to give them a call."

"John and Luke are straight forward. Carpet is beautiful. Installation was on a Saturday. They arrived on time and the work was completed by 4 p.m. My only complaint is there was a little more space than I desired between the carpet and some Pergo flooring on the bottom of the stairs. (Space between the trim and the carpet. )This probably would have happened with anyone installing as I had very thick carpet that was removed."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Powder Springs, GA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
