"I had a plumbing issue that I thought would turn into a major headache, but Mahon Plumbing made the whole process smooth and stress-free. They arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the problem, and had it fixed before I could even make a second cup of coffee. They were professional, knowledgeable, and even gave me a few tips to avoid future issues. The pricing was fair, and there were no surprises on the bill—just great service from start to finish. If you need a plumber who knows what they’re doing and won’t leave you with a mess, I highly recommend Mahon Plumbing. I’ll definitely call them again for any future plumbing needs!"

"Went well! He had a cancellation so was able to come out by 10am. Tried snaking the drains with the tools he had in truck but had to go back to his shop and get a larger version. Came back with another Plummer to help him. They were able to remove blockage out to the street. Also noted my toilet that wouldn't stop running needed a new part - James agreed to stay and fix it for a reasonable price. Finally, I had a leaky faucet in one of my bathrooms that he was able to quickly replace. Total cost was $700 ($425 for clog, $125 for toilet repair, $150 for faucet). This seemed really fair to me since he was at my place or running around getting things for me from before 10 until after 3. Super nice guy as well, would definitely recommend him and will be calling him for all my future needs."

"I’m surprised by the negative reviews, I had a great experience. After having another electrician come by from Thumbtack to quote my project and unhappy with the both the price and the person they sent over. I contacted Sean from Murphy over the holiday weekend, and he was very responsive. Marvin the technician they sent over did a great job, and even brought his uncle along to help. Very nice guys and hard workers. Will definitely use again. They were very fair and did not try to up charge me or complain that I pre-ordered parts which most electricians will mark up and charge more for. It’s hard to find a fair, honest company that doesn’t charge insane prices. These guys were masters of their craft and highly recommend using them."

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Price, MD

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
