"Rob was a good match for us and the work that we needed done. Communication was strong - response was swift, including for at least one accidental phone call. His installation work was 5 / 5. Because he was working in a rail space that had been recently insulated; the project manager also inspected Rob's work to make sure his team did not need to do any follow up repairs. He was very impressed by Rob's workmanship. Rob's mitigation work resulted in a significant reduction in radon levels as measured by our Corentium Home 2 devices from Airthings, this device measures radon/temp/humidity continuously and allows us to monitor levels via the app. if you are concern about radon in your home, I would recommend both Rob from Tri-state, and understanding your long term radon levels using a device such as the Corentium Home 2 device. Below is a snapshot showing the reduction in radon levels in our crawlspace after Rob completed his work."

"Benedict showed up 40 minutes earlier than the scheduled time. He installed a two-pipe system in my basement in under 5 hours. My radon levels went from 4.0-7.0 to 0.7! He got all the permit application paperwork done and all I had to do was drop it off and schedule the inspection. I highly recommend Radon Shield, LLC."

"The project went very well - Benedict explained what he would need to do clearly before we started, was prompt on the day we scheduled the fan installation, and worked efficiently. Our radon level is now 0.3 in our basement following fan installation. Highly recommend Radon Shield!"

"It is a bit premature to say completely satisfied, because I won't know until radon testing is done how successful the exhaust fan and sealing of sump pump has had on my radon level. Will say that Pete, owner and operator of Fresh Air Solutions was very cooperative to work with and seems to have a good knowledge base of radon remediation. Appreciated that he was very respectful of my wishes and concerns.."

"Top notch company and extremely professional. They did an excellent job and worked with me on the best placement for the radon mitigation system. Perhaps the best review I could give them is to say I will be hiring them to do my own house as well as I am situated on the Reading Radon belt. The job I am rating them on was my Dadâ s house which I am selling."

"Michael arrived a few minutes early which was great. He was extremely thorough and knowledgeable regarding the home inspection. He took the time to show and explain several potential issues. Michael went above and beyond to make my wife and I feel at ease with the home purchase. He provided a detailed report with the whole house write up and pictures within hours of the inspection. We highly recommend Michael to anyone looking to get a home inspection or any other home services in NJ. You won't be disappointed."

"My review is a little mixed. he spent his time explaining a lot, gave great recommendations and estimates on what it would cost to renovate and such. very personable, and in his defense, he asked me if i had any questions. not afraid to get dirty and get onto the roof which was risky with the loose floorboard. also as a member of BP, i have high expectations.
things i did not like:
access to the roof was sealed, and that was it. no drone to take a look up top, no ladder to get up there. so i am paying more to get a roofer to inspect and estimate. he did attempt going through the loos floor boards, which was brave.
there was a lot of mouse poop but we didn't investigate further, just stated that there was no indication of termites. not sure what the difference would be if i opted out of the termite inspection.
the girl on the phone assumed i was lying when i said there was no basement based off zillow or google stating there was a basement, and so i'm pretty sure they priced me as if the home had a basement.
he checked the power outlets in the vacant unit, but not the other outlets in the unit with the tenant, assuming everything works?
things i did like:
he took his time explaining everything and giving the life expectancy of the appliances. even gave repair estimates
knowledgeable about the area and old buildings
found that there may be something on the ground unit as it was hollow, doubt others would have spotted that.
advised on the tank sweep, cutting the tree that was growing over the driveway, electrical box which should be re-done.
overall, the report was adequate, wished we did something about the roof, but his contract states if there is an obstruction or sealed, he won't go in there which sucks for me. swell guy, i'll try others to see how he better compares.

"A two-man team worked very efficiently to remove each vent cover and vacuum inside the vent openings throughout the townhouse. One man removed the vent covers while the other man vacuumed inside the vent openings. No problems with how they worked but I think there are other companies who perform a more thorough cleaning of ductwork using other methods. This company did a superficial cleaning and worked very quickly. In and out within an hour.

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Princeton, NJ

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
