"Visited three different flooring stores including Direct Flooring. Direct Flooring had the lowest prices on materials/labor. The installer they use arrived on time for measurements and he was very friendly and professional. Carpets have not been installed yet so can't comment on outcome but I expect it to be very good."

"They completed the job in one day and did a wonderful job. They were diligent in protecting the rest of the house from dust and dirt with plastic drapes from the ceiling, even in the rooms where the tile ran down the middle of an otherwise carpeted room. They cleaned up as they went, minimizing the impact of those family members that remained in the house while they worked and carted away all of the tile and mess using plastic buckets. The ground down the thin set, leaving the floor perfectly prepared for the installation of the new tile. Having been involved in retiling jobs before, I can't recommend these guys enough. At $1.95/ft. is highly cost effective and saves the cost of the dumpster. Plus it eliminates my having to do a lot of back breaking and unpleasant work. Having them remove the tile for you, even if you intend to retile yourself, is fast, cost-effective, and saves a lot of time and effort."

"They are excellent and I have recommended them to my son and he uses them too.  They can put you with other companies also.  Now the main companies are no longer writing policies in Florida.  They will take very good care of you.  I sued my former insurance company that I had because of the puffed up tile and they would not cover it.  So we had to go for arbitration and all that stuff.  Now my former insurance company does not want to have anything to do with me because we won money from them.  I went to Hardin Insurance Group LLC and Karen wrote a policy for me the very next day.  I have the Home Owners Insurance.  They are excellent and they will bend over backwards to help you and they also will stay late if you need to go and sign something and you can’t make it.  I am using them and I am not going to stop.  They give you excellent service and their two daughters work with them so it is a family owned business and all of the family will help you."

"I gave Ehlen Floor Coverings all A's because it was such a pleasure doing business with them. They were patient with me as I made many visits to their store to pick up samples to take to our home, sometimes keeping the samples for up to a week. They even helped me choose which would be best carpet for rentals. After I decided on the carpet we chose a date and because the house is sometimes rented they were flexible with the installation date. When it came time for the installation they were punctual and professional and seemed to move the furniture around with ease. The installer was very careful with my furniture and cleaned up everything before he left. I would highly recommend Ehlen Floor Coverings. <br />"

"My first room was my large florida room (can't remember how many square feet off hand but it wasn't a small job). They installed the tile when they said they were going to, explained the process, the guys who installed cleaned up after themselves, very professional as well and they finished the job in a timely manner. The finished job was good quality work, which is very important to me. I had them install tile in one of my bedroom's and the same awesome work ethic and good quality workmanship was demonstrated. Thanks guys! <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Punta Gorda, FL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
