"Mr. Jeffreys met with us and very clearly explained the process. He was always on-time if not early. He worked hard and steady throughout the entire project...even when there was no one to help him. Always cleaned up after himself. "Strong work ethic" is almost an understatement in describing him. He finished the project within the time frame that he promised. In summary, he did EXCELLENT work and the floors look great! We're very pleased and would highly recommend!"

"The floors turned out well, and the company was responsive when I called to schedule.  However, the pricing and the selection processes were painful.  Specifically, I chose one type of flooring only to learn that it was out of stock, and then I ended up with a different floor that took longer to install given the square footage."

"The subcontractors were great and did a great job. They called during the install to clarify any issues or concerns, and they called afterward to see if I thought there were any problems. <br /> I love the floor but I didn't like the transitions though they were the ones the manufacturer sells to go with my floor. They are not quite the same color as the flooring as they are laminate and the floor is wood. I will have them replaced with wood ones, so Floored agreed to take the transitions off my bill. Thus, I will shop at Floored again. <br />"

"I had carpet installed by Carpetland (separate review) and my precious little pup almost immediately dug up a couple seams and corners. <br /> I called David to see if he could do the repairs. On the phone he listened to my issue and made a good faith estimate based on the conversation. He was very accommodating in trying to schedule the repairs and was able to fit it in within the week. He called and confirmed the time the day before and again just before arriving.   <br /> David and Matt were very pleasant and professional on arrival, going above and beyond, understanding about my rambunctious puppies. They were able to assess the situation and start work quickly. They did an excellent job, it looks great. The area was cleaner when they were done than when they started. His phone estimate was spot on and a very good deal. <br /> I would most definitely recommend Trinity Flooring for your flooring needs. <br />"

"End result is great.  Tile looks great and installation was good.  Tile floor is easy to take care of and no complaints about the product. <br /> Problems came about in the pricing and adjustments.  The provider charged for "embossing" and labor to put down the embossing (approx $200).  This process is supposed to 'level' out old laminate to create a smooth surface.  The installer noted it was not needed as the existing laminate did not have a noticeable pattern.  The other 'extra' charge was for reducers, as it was explained to me - the transfer piece between the tile surface and the other flooring in the adorning room.  The cost for this piece was approximately $50.  The flooring was installed using existing transfers - so no extra parts were used.  It seems that the price for the floor was inflated by $250.  When questioned, the provider made attempts to resolve (eg: He needs to talk the installer to find out his side of the story).  Bottom line, no real resolution, we ended up settling for 1/2 of the disputed amount.  <br />"

"Ray is a perfectionist in his work, and it really pays off in the final product. He was meticulous in seeing that everything was done correctly and beautifully. He was helpful in giving me hints on other home tasks and made sure that I was satisfied with each job he did. I'm thrilled with all the projects that he completed in my home. He went the extra mile to be sure everything was done perfectly and  that I was informed of the progress and details of the work. <br /> Also, I have two indoor cats who cannot go outside, and Ray was always mindful and careful to know where the cats were, that they were safe, and that they didn't "escape." <br /> He was always clear about the days he would be working, always on time, and always stayed until he had finished his work for the day and cleaned up. <br /> If you need any type of flooring done in your home, this is the person to call. I recommend him with no hesitation and with highest enthusiasm."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Radford, VA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
