"Mike and his team did a great job upgrade our electrical panel from 100A to 200A. They did a great job and we appreciate their work and effort. Mike is kind, professional and always willing to help. He has answered me lots of questions and make adjustments based on my request. The process goes smoothly and inspection passed without any doubt. And their price is the best (among the 3 companies I quote)! Would highly recommended them for anyone needs a panel upgrade or electrical work."

"Hired them to install a tankless water heater, which required an electrical upgrade from 30A to 120A. They handled everything with the panel, ran the new wiring without any damage to the drywall, and kept everything clean. They also added can lights in the ceiling of one room, and installed outdoor electrical outlets. They were fast, professional, and incredibly sharp. Definitely a go-to place for all your home electrical needs."

"My experience with First Choice Electrical was an outstanding one. Jeff quickly responded to my request for an electrician to take on this job to replace an electrical panel. He provided a comprehensive price quote after getting all the necessary information from me including pictures. The price for the panel replacement was very reasonable. Jeff did a thorough and very professional job replacing it He explained what was being done and patiently answered all my questions. I was very impressed with the excellent work he did and the obviously very high professional standards he holds. As confirmation of the high caliber of work done the city inspector gave it his complete approval. The whole process including getting the necessary permits was very smooth and efficient. I’m very happy I went with 1st Choice Electrical to do this job and I can enthusiastically recommend them to anyone needing to have the highest quality of electrical work done at an affordable price."

"Bogdan was awesome. An expert electrician and super friendly. He installed extra panels on each side of our exterior for both hot tub and generator, installed dozens of outlets and light switches, 3 way switches, and pendant lights, led lighting under counters, sconces on the deck and large led light panels in the garage. He advised on kitchen island outlet locations and floor outlets for lamps in the living room. Came out multiple times as needed for add on requests. He also installed our Tesla Charging Station in our garage. He is trustworthy and does an excellent job."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Redmond, WA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
