"Excellent! Cleaning and Service was, once again, best in class! They have become our first choice for cleaning our carpets. Have been using G & G for more than 6 years to do our annual rug cleaning in our family room and in bedroom and landing area. Both are high traffic areas. We could not be happier with the people or service. We Highly recommend G & G to anyone. The people at G & G"

"It was fabulous. I have used them for area rugs for probably 15 years and they always did a fabulous job. I had a remnant of carpeting left over that I wanted to make into an area rug. They did the fringing on it, and they did a beautiful job. They are extremely friendly and willing to help or answer questions. They just are nice. They remember my name before I even tell them, and it is sometimes years before I come in again. They are good. I am the one that takes it to them but there is always somebody to wait on me."

"Vick at Carpeteria was very helpful in explaining detailed information about different types of hardwood and which application would work best in our home. The schedulers were responsive. The installers did a great job on each type of flooring. <br />"

"From the first contact with Jim until the last room was laid, we were very pleased with Conklin Brothers. Not living in this area but helping out my parents, I consulted Angie's List. This is where I found the great reviews on Conklin Brothers. My need was immediate. I was bringing my father home on hospice. Within one week, the carpet was  measured, ordered and laid. I was so impressed with the value and timely response I asked Jim to come out and do the little cottage. Another great job with excellent results. Thank you Jim <br />"

"Prompt, personable, and professional. Pardon me if I glow, but... <br /> Sarino answered my phone call immediately. In this particular case, I didn't even have to contend with the voice-mail and call-back scenario so typical with vendors these days. He gave me a reasonable quote on the phone right away, so we scheduled a service appointment for the next business day. On the morning of the service, he called me to confirm, so I never had any worries whether he'd be there as promised. <br /> We needed this service because we had just completed remodeling two rooms with bamboo hardwood floors and wanted simple, clean and quot;stretch-and-tuckand quot; thresholds in the doorways where the hardwood met the hallway carpet. Sarino was able to install new tack strips in the doorways, trim the excess carpet and pad, stretch the carpet nice and tight, trim it, and tuck the loose end into the threshold, snug against the wood flooring. In one case, he even had to trim the exposed hardwood and quot;tongueand quot; off the flooring (the planks used a tongue-and-groove mechanism for installation) so that there would be no gap, dip, or shadow between the carpet and the wood. <br /> Sarino even looked at another metal-cover threshold done in a different area and suggested we could give it the same treatment. I wasn't sure it was possible because there was no excess carpet, but after examining it, Sarino was able to stretch the carpet enough to make it work. So basically we got a bonus threshold and he didn't charge us anything extra. <br /> The result is three clean, seamless lines between the carpet and hardwood/tile. There are no bulky, shifting cover-plates to trip over, and no perpetually loose nail-heads to snag our socks. There's just a natural-looking transition. I couldn't be happier. <br />"

"First of all, the carpet cleaners didn’t show up and then postpone to the following day and then show up 30 mins after the appointment. They finished the carpet steam cleaning. Later I found out a small patch of carpet was burnt. I won’t use them again."

"I was happy with Matt Cole's service and punctuality. I've been using the same professional carpet cleaner for 20 years, but this Angie's List offer arrived just as I was about to schedule an appointment with him. I was pleased to be able to book a highly-rated provider at an attractive price. Matt contacted me promptly and was able to schedule a convenient time within the next two weeks. He kindly agreed to arrive a little earlier than his usual appointment time to accommodate my need to leave for work by a certain time. As we walked through the rooms to examine the work to be done, I was a little surprised that he said a certain task could not be performed (cleaning an area rug I have placed over wall-to-wall carpeting in one room), since my long-time carpet cleaner had done it with success many times. However, I trust that a professional knows his specialty better than I do, so I did not argue and allowed him to do it the way he recommended. The final results were absolutely fine. <br /> When on-site, I asked Matt to quote me on the cleaning of four additional area rugs. He did a perfectly wonderful job on them and delivered them as promised 10 days later, again accommodating my availability. <br /> One thing different about Cole's is that Matt does the work himself. He doesn't have an assistant so he is definitely and quot;in the trenchesand quot; paying attention to the details himself. This is a nice attribute. My final analysis is that Cole's is a quality carpet cleaner which gives reliable, professional service and delivers on their promise. I would call Matt again for wall-to-wall carpet cleaning as well as area rug cleaning. <br />"

"Had to have my 1 1/2 year old bathroom floor re-tiled. Original company refused to fix the creaking floor. Rod did a fantastic job in a timely manner. Super happy with the job. Would definitely hire again. Honest, professional and hard worker."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Redwood City, CA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
