Small jobs welcome

"Partial basement completion. Created a bedroom, a bathroom, and a storage room in our unfinished basement. Fantastic work and very, very fast. We had a certain timeline, we knew it would be tight, but the Elite team worked it in around previously schedule jobs and got it done. Everything is beautifully done and we greatly appreciate the excellent work. The entire crew was courteous, extremely knowledgeable, and very professional, making sure we were satisfied all along the way. Great job!"

Customers say: Terrific value

"Steve Ellis of H&E constructions in Rigby serves Idahofalls or the upper snake river valley. He showed up on the scheduled time each day, finished my project on time, on budget with exceptional craftsmanship. I am fairly picky wife is worse. He pleased us both. Kept the construction site cleaned up. Recommended improvements that made sense and in a couple items actually saved me some money. I would strongly recommend this company. At a minimum put Steve on your list when researching contractors. He can also do full basement remodels because I spoke with him at length on what I may be doing in the future. I don't plan to interview anyone else when I proceed. If you readers are not getting that this is a top notch pro, that's my back in not expressing how well he worked for me. Look at H&E (Steve Ellis) for any remodel projects."

"I'm unable to go ahead with the project at this time, but if I was I would go with Waters construction in a heartbeat. Cody is very professional, always showed up when he said he would, and thoroughly explained the remodeling process. A pleasure to interact with. "

"Homey Basements did a great job framing our marriage wall in the basement and sill plate. They were prompt and fit us in when we needed them. They were professional, flexible, had a friendly attitude, and worked hard until it was done, even though it took longer than expected. We would highly recommend them to others looking for framing in the Swan Valley/Star Valley/Idaho Falls areas."

"Ryan Seminario/Black Iron Construction installed a sliding door package in our living room. It was difficult to find someone willing to do a smaller project but Ryan was totally on board. This project required installing a header and re-constructing the wall to fit the doors, putting up drywall, sanding and texturing the wall and putting up new siding on the outside. He did a beautiful job! He paid attention to detail and got everything right. He is very good about communicating. Especially when he will be on site and what he will be working on. When he wasn't comfortable doing the wiring needed for our project, he was honest and upfront with me. We worked together and found an electrician to do it. He put up a plastic wall around the work area and cleaned the work area at the end of each day. I really appreciated that! I highly recommend Black Iron Construction for any project."

"Micah has done a lot of work with our home and always is a joy to work with. He’s always so helpful with designing and his work is always quality. He just installed a new fence in our yard and we are just so pleased with the finished product. I would definitely recommend valley tradesmen for all your remodel needs!"

"Denny and Coleman were excellent throughout the process.  The bid was very competitive with the others.  They were excellent at communicating with us, very clean, and very professional.  This was our first contact with them and now consider them our "goto" guys for HVAC or electrical work.  In fact, they will be coming out in six weeks to do some electrical during our kitchen remodel. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Rexburg, ID

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
