"They gave me a very acceptable price for doing the three coats of polyurethane and sanding. It includes taking out the carpet and doing away with it. I am paying them extra to move the heavy furniture. They have come out twice. They are on Angie?s List. They quoted me about $1750. I called them the second time to talk to them further about exactly how it would proceed since I am planning on using them. The guy came over and we talked about it. Then he left and I am going to call him today to see when he could start. I have to move the small stuff before he comes and moves the heavy furniture. Everything about them during the quoting process was excellent. I may use them again. In fact, I am also going to talk to them about finishing the rest of the floors. <br /> <br /> The floors are finished and they look wonderful.  The price did not include the strips around the sides of the wall at the floor so it was a little more, but I am well satisfied and will certainly ask them to work on my other floors. <br /> <br /> You do have to call them to remind them when you are at the talking stage, but when it came to the work, they were there on time and finished when they said they would."

"I had had other carpet cleaners in the past but had used The Carpetman exclusively for a number of years and they were loyal.  I am sorry that I no longer have a carpet but wanted to let others know that this company in my experience is professional and will do a good job.  They keep their appointments, are punctual, and as I say do quality work."

"<p>I  am still waiting on shoe molding to match the floor in the stair way entrance to the 2nd floor landing( 3 weeks). It is oak flooring with with shoe molding, notice immediately when landing on the up stairs entry way.   I did discuss my concerns about the stair case landing and was told the piece was ordered and I need to pay my final payment  per manger/owner(paid 1/2 to begin and 1/2 at finish).<br /> <br /> Some laminate is not laying down smoothly may come up in the future.  The casing around the door is not touching the floor. Carpet was taken up so the door door casing do not come down to met the floor. Trying to come up with a solution to repair which would not be costly to pull the frames around doors.  I have four doors, which is 8 door frames sides that would have to be repaired.  I wish I had known the casing was going to be an issue and was not  included in the cost.  You would think a floor installation business would know what the installation would need.   I googled the internet, and I have seen a solution called kick casing.  You would think a professional floor installation company would  suggest or fix the problem.</p> <p>Company did comeback and replaced the molding on the landing and it looks good. Re-glued a spot that was coming up.</p>"

"rinSalesman was wonderful to work with, came right out to house and measured. He let me know what the cost was with in ten minutes his returning to the store. Installer did a great job and did everything I asked of him. The t modeling had not arrived by the day they were scheduled to come. Make sure they have everything as it took a week to finally get the t modeling installed. Over all it went quiet well. I will 100% consider using them when we change out other flooring. So I highly recomend Flooring America store in Columbus, Ga."

"This was all told in the previous section.  Please refer to it.  I am sorry to have to complain but overall the work was sloppy.  Nathan did come when he said he would to give an estimate, to do the work, etc <br /> <br /> 10/9/2011  UPDATE:  I have had to replace the toilet in my bathroom which Mr. Weatherby and his helpers moved from the hall bath in July or August.  I noticed that it "rocked" on the wax ring that it was sitting on and finally it became very difficult to flush.  Had a professional plumbing service take a look at it and they reported that it would have cracked sooner or later.  The tank was too wide for the space available (due to a construction error made 18 years ago where the hole for the commode was cut too close to the wall) but Nathan "made" it fit which was also causing problems.  I estimate that this cost me approximately $400 more dollars (you remember that I initially paid Nathan almost $7000 to do all these jobs for me) <br /> <br /> Also, Nathan replaced two windows for me.  They were not sealed properly and one would not stay open.  Also, one of the window sills was rotted clear through to the outside; I thought Nathan surely replaced the windowsill.  No, he used the famous caulking trick to fill the hole, leaving rotted wood in the house.  This wood rot was caused by shrubbery keeping it damp behind them - they were originally planted too close to the house but they have been gone for about 18 months now.  I am now going to have to pay a professional window installation company $200 to repair what was not done at the initial installation. <br /> <br /> Nathan needs to learn to make an itemized statement for his services.  My mistake was not insisting that he do one.  He charged me all this $$ and I had to purchase the materials myself besides.  The window company is furnishing the windows, hardware, etc. and it will cost me less than one of Nathan's unprofessional jobs.  <br /> <br /> Please do not use this company for any of your work if you want it done correctly.  I learned about this after the fact.  I think he took advantage of the fact the my husband passed away in March and was not here to oversee things."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Richland, GA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
