"Second time I've used Ralph Opfer Floors and I highly recommend them. The selection is extensive without being overwhelming and the customer service saved me a lot of time by listening to what my job entailed and helping me narrow my options. The installation went without a hitch and I couldn't have been more pleased overall. I recommend them to my clients who are looking for a flooring contractor. Mary Nesel/Lyon Real Estate"

"We had wallpaer and popcorn removed by another company last week.  They did a good job and covered everything, but it seemed like dust and popcorn pieces got into our carpet.  The air quality was bad. <br /> I called Scott's Upholstery & Carpet Care late in the afternoon of 6/10/14.  I explained what the problem was, and we scheduled an appointment for the following day at 4pm.  He made this appointment, even though it meant he would have to  reschedule a meeting..  He did this because it was a health issue.  After hanging up the phone with him, I spoke with my husband and we thought we could make the appointment for the next morning.  I called Scott back, and he scheduled us for 0800 on 6/11/14. <br /> He and his son arrived here on time.  They were very nice, professional, and did a great job.  He gave us a discount on the cleaning, I think partly because we are Angie's list members, but also, much of our furniture was already out of the rooms, so that made it a little easier. <br /> When we are finished with all the work we plan to do on the house, I will call Scott's Upholstery & Carpet Care, to clean our big recliner. <br /> We were very impressed and grateful that they came out so quickly, and did such a good job! <br />"

"Wonderful experience from start to finish.  Salesperson was helpful but not pushy.  Estimate for the job was done within 3 <br /> days.  Carpet was ordered and arrived on <br /> time.  Installers for the carpet were punctual <br /> and efficient.  Everyone was so helpful <br /> and really nice.  <br /> <br /> Something extra special about this company?.. One month <br /> after my install a box of cupcakes arrived from a local bakery ?Sweet Spot <br /> Bakery in Suisun? as a thank you gift from Gillespie?s with a hand written <br /> card. <br /> <br /> Please support this family owned business, you won?t be <br /> sorry!  <br /> RExceptional Service. <br /> <br />"

"Our main point of contact was Rick. We had good communication from him and everyone we dealt with at Mand D. Rick came to measure our carpeted areas. I texted him some carpet part numbers and names that we saw at Home Depot and he found the right carpets and got them ordered. When the carpets arrived, four excellent and friendly installers arrived right on time. They worked very quickly and were in and out in very little time - probably 3 hours for removal and installation. They vacuumed up all the loose threads from cutting the carpets and hauled away the old stuff (for a very acceptable additional charge). We are happy with both the carpets, the quality of installation, the cost, and our interactions with the people of Mand D and we would recommend them to anyone. <br />"

"California Carpet Center worked out okay. In some way, I was happy with them but in another way, I wasn't. The sales guy was really knowledgeable and really friendly. I liked him. The guys who did the tile did a great job. I really liked them. The carpet layers were a little hit-and-miss. I know, their carpet layers are kind of a wrecking crew in the first place. With these guys, I wasn't impressed. First of all, they came out three days early. They were kind of pissed off because I didn't have my furniture moved. I told them that I'm all by myself and they're three days early. They showed an attitude about it. They tried to move all my book cases with all the books still in it and they broke it. They weren't happy. The guy did not rush me in to anything I told him. I asked them if they would branch around some speakers under my carpet but he didn't do it right. Finally, I held up $100 for them to do it right. I came in and I have a 50-cable wire. They just grabbed one in and put it on the other end and cut it to two equal lengths. They didn't do it right. They just weren't listening. He got injured and got blood all over my wall. Everybody except for the carpet layers were great. Other than that, I was really happy with everything that they did. I wouldn't mind recommending the company but their carpet installers were a wrecking crew. "

"They worked with me through a difficult process. Very Professional and provided me with beautiful carpet. I had specific time lines and I needed a lot of carpet in a short amount of time. Then when the carpet needed to be installed, the installers worked until the job was complete (they didn't even want to take a lunch). Very Impressive!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Rio Vista, CA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
