"I can’t say enough good things about Randy and Carpet Stretch and Rescuecue. We had some bad wrinkling in our carpets throughout the house. Randy did an EXCELLENT job in smoothing out all the wrinkles! He also patched a piece of carpet that my dog had chewed on. Randy is a great guy and very easy to work with. I highly recommend this company!"

"We bought the split level house with an unfinished lower level and slowly have been finishing off the area over the course of a few years. The space totaled around 1000 sqft with the addition of 2 bedrooms (with closets), long hall, and large L shaped family room with stairs going up to the foyer area (with closets). We wanted the space to look as professional and as nice as the upstairs so we took our time and wanted things done right. The time came for carpet and having no idea where to go we went to some larger retail stores and a few of the bigger shops in the area. We found a carpet we liked (Mohawk silk strand serenity, memory foam pad) and even had a number of estimates performed. I probably jumped the gun a bit on estimates as they were performed about one month before I actually needed the carpet. The good news is that it gave me time to really think about the decision. <br /> We ended up going with Cascade for a number of reasons and I would encourage you to do the same: <br /> 1) It is a local, family owned shop that relies on reputation for business and future business. The retail stores will call you a lot to get your money (almost daily until you tell them no), but then hire some guy to install that is getting paid a fraction of the install cost. People tend to do better work if they are earning more for the work they are doing and that doesn't always mean you pay more. <br /> 2) The total price was comparable to the larger retail and actually less than the larger shops for the same if not better quality carpet <br /> 3) They respected that I needed extra time to finish what  I needed to and cared that I was getting what I wanted. Cascade really wanted me to be happy with the results <br /> 4) The money I spent goes back into supporting the community I live in <br /> 5) Small town service, with extremely polite and professional communication <br /> The results: <br /> Fantastic! I couldn't be happier with the work that was performed and the professionalism of Dave and his family. Really quality workmanship and I will be using again for future projects! <br /> <br /> <br />"

"We made it clear that we wanted carpeting that was somewhat environmentally friendly. Mike came to our house as scheduled and we talked about types of carpet and he measured the area. We went to his store front to pick out the carpet and his employee working that day steered us to the Smart Strand carpeting and really gave it a hard sell. We asked about moving heavy furniture and a couple of other issues to which Mike replied about his and quot;crewand quot; being able to move anything. To us a crew is more than one person, but that is who showed up when the work was scheduled. It was supposed to take 1-2 days, but the first day the and quot;crewand quot; had to leave early, the second day he hurt his back and left early, and finally finished on the third day. He did a good job, but on the first evening we looked at the products he was using and he was going to use an adhesive that contained toluene. We pointed this out to him (after all Mike knew the importance of the environmental issues to us) and he called Mike who told him to use duct tape instead to hold down the edges. When we tried to vacuum the Smart Strand carpeting we found that a regular vacuum would not move on this carpet. I googled the issue and found a lot of information about the problems associated with vacuuming Smart Strand. We tried 5 different vacuums (3 of which we bought new and returned) and finally ended up with an Oreck Magnesium for $299. I am a very small person and that was only vacuum I could even push on this carpet, and only at the lowest speed. When I called Mike's store about the vacuum issue, I was first told and quot;anything but an Oreck.and quot; Then I called Mike directly and he said to call his store again in a half hour and they would give me the name of the right kind of vacuum. When I called they simply emailed me an article from Mohawk (makers of the Smart Strand) that I had already seen online. Mike obviously just has sub-contractors like any big box store and I simply do not see any advantage whatsoever to buying from him. In fact, I'm quite sure Home Depot would have been more responsive to the vacuum issue. <br />"

"Our purple carpet had about 100 urine stains from previous dogs and our own. The specialist, Robert, matched to color and treated every spot. If we didn't know where they were, we'd never know they spots had been there. Perfect job!"

"The process began with product selection. Russ Zimmerman, and daughter Holly, advised us on product selection and assisted with color selection as well. The materials were ordered and installation went smoothly. Their installation crew was very professional and did a nice job of clean-up after the work was completed. The quality of the products and installation are first rate and got great reviews - the home was in the 2012 Parade of Homes. We will use them again if the need arises and would recommend them to others."

"We stopped by their showroom in Menomonie to find our more about their selection and get some ideas for our house.  They spent a lot of time with us and made us feel comfortable dealing with them.  After our visit at the store, the estimator came out to our house about two hours later to measure everything for a bid.  We received the bid a day or two later.  We did the house in two phases: two bedrooms first in March, and the great room in September.  The installer was very courteous and even showed me some tips on how to make the installation trim out better, which worked fantastic.  Our great room and bedrooms look fabulous.  Nevin's assured me that if there is any issues down the road (movement, buckling, etc...) that they will take care of it.  I'm sure Home Depot and Lowe's can't give the level of service that Nevin's can give. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in River Falls, WI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
