"Our home was lovingly built in the late 60’s. The bathroom was craptastic: avocado green flecked tiles up the walls, green toilet, green sink and the green swirled countertops to match. We reached out to Veteran Home Repair to jazz up the joint. Tyler completed the job on schedule and now our bathroom is the ?! It is absolutely breath taking. Calgon take me away."

"I found AHC on Angie's list after having such a negative experience with a previous contractor (2008-09) whom we heard about through word of mouth… an entire house renovation which resulted in immediate exterior railing failures and badly deteriorating decks/paint/decking among other things. With multiple decks and railings now necessitating demolition and rebuild, I wanted to make sure we didn't have a repeat of this earlier experience, so signed up for Angie's list and contacted AHC because of their excellent ratings. Our experience with AHC could not have been more different than our experience with the earlier contractor: There were no surprises or excuses - Elbert's team was extremely knowledgeable, well organized, respectful, stayed on schedule & budget, was always available to answer questions and give suggestions, worked around our schedules and provided high quality work with proper exterior and quality materials. If the elements interfered (June rain!) requiring any adjustment, they always came back quickly and took care of it without extra fees. Their work ethic was one of excellence. The carpentry and painting are beautiful, something we now feel confident will last for years. We called Elbert and his team back for other exterior repairs shortly afterwards - and again were extremely pleased. I recommend them highly."

"<p>This is the 2nd time I've used Home Sweet Home.  I bought a two room deal for painting; we have very high ceilings and lots of wood trim, and we expected to pay a little more than the $375 for that, which is totally fair.</p> <p>They did a great job.  We estimated it would take 2-3 days, and instead it took 1.  They purchased our paint for us through Sherwin Williams, even though the color was from Benjamin Moore.  They passed along their significant savings on the paint to us, and we got it at their cost at no upcharge.</p> <p>We also had a small project from another contractor that needed cleaning up.  Former contractor laid a fence chainwall (concrete), but did not bother to clean up the concrete overspill into our neighbor's yard, which really disappointed me.  The extra concrete made it hard for them to cut their yard (we were so embarrassed).  Home Sweet Home took care of that clean up, no problem.</p> <p>I highly recommend Home Sweet Home and won't hesitate to use them again.</p>"

"From start to finish, it was a pleasure working with David Brooks and his crew. During the estimate phase, even before he secured our business, Mr. Brooks made several trips to the house in order to provide an accurate assessment. He was very easy to talk to and helped us hone in on the scope of the project and helped guide our decision as to where best to direct our attention. Once the project began, the crew was very professional. They were pleasant to chat with over the course of the 8 week project, and always provided great updates on the work being done. Mr. Brooks was very communicative throughout the project and reached out regularly to clarify decisions or discuss new developments. I felt very comfortable raising any concerns or questions and Mr. Brooks was always quick to address them. As new issues came up, (the house did not have any work done on it for a long time, we were mentally prepared for the worst as they started pulling off siding), Mr. Brooks gave concise analysis to help us make a decision and manage our budget. Brooks Painting did an amazing job on the major work needed and they did an amazing job on all the small details as well. The crew must have come back an addition 3-4 times for a 'final cleaning and walk through' to follow up on details such as painting the house numbers and other small accents."

"The entire project went exactly as we planned and Chuck offered suggestions on the design, amenities, and other details. We were kept informed of the schedule for each phase of the construction and the approximate time the crew would arrive. We liked working with Southern Equity Contractors because we wanted to do some of the work (painting and some finish work) and Chuck accommodated us. Chuck was easy to work with on various details and made sure we both agreed to any changes and would be satisfied with the final  result. I would use Chuck on any future home projects. <br />"

"Mike and his crew were very professional. They did exactly as I asked by paying close attention to my instructions and wishes. They did not rush the job. They worked longer than estimated to make sure everything was to my liking, Some areas they reworked because it wasn't to there standard. They were very considerate of my schedule and my house. They covered everything and cleaned up every day when finished like no other contractor I have ever used. There attention to detail in there painting was excelent. I highly recommend them. <br />"

"Veteran garage door tech. “Rodger” showed up at exactly the appointed time. Introduced himself and went right to work, discussing with me what he’d be doing to correct the damage (I caused to my garage door panels, tracks and cables of my cable door drums. I purchased and attempted to install a set of new springs myself.)….Note to homeowners….I’m a pretty experienced mechanical tech myself; performing most of my own home & minor auto repairs over many decades. My complete inexperience with garage door systems could have gotten me seriously injured as I did not realize the potential energy I was placing in winding up the EXTREMELY OVERRATED torsion bar springs I INCORRECTLY purchased on line!!) So after receiving that well-meaning, much-deserved “critique,” Rodger successfully straightened out and realigned most all my damage without having to replace a lot of my “bent-up” components. He placed the PROPER-sized torsion bar springs, a very worn sprocket of my chain drive motor and adjusted the chain, etc. Most impressed by the expertise and speed in which he was able to do all that work (without a helper) in less than an hour-1/2 at most. Great experience; sincere folks (was told their company is a start-up since our area’s Hurricane Katrina of 2005.) Recommending their service to anyone (including do-it-yourselfers as myself). Thank you, Access Garage Door Co. (and Rodger) for your great service."

".I had removed most of the old rotten wooden railing (about 15 ft), leaving the 4x4 posts (still good).  One post had to be dug up and re-inserted as the railing rails only allowed for 6ft separation between posts and one post was at 77".  After this correction, the installation proceeded quickly.  <br /> As the installation was almost ending, I noticed that the crew had neglected to install some minor trim, which they did not think were necessary, but quickly added them. <br /> In my younger years, I was an avid DIYer, but felt that my skills had waned and that I did not have the necessary tools to properly install this railing system.  If I had been doing the job, I would have made one or two minor changes in the installation, but  the differences were not enough to reject the job. <br /> I was initially quoted a set amount for 2 men for 2 hours and then a cost per man per hour.  The men arrived at 9 am and were finished by noon.  When I spoke with Charles Rick to  establish the final cost, I was advised that he was charging me $250 for a 1/2 day job (slightly more than the previously agreed upon hourly rate).  I accepted the change and asked to pay by Credit Card (also previously agreed on), and was told that it would cost him too much for him to accept a Credit Card, but that I could use PayPal. I did pay him by PayPal. <br /> I have emailed him twice requesting an Invoice with his Letterhead for my records, but have not received this Invoice copy. <br /> I would not use Charlie Rick, LLC for the reasons stated in the last two paragraphs. <br />   <br /> <br />"

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Ponchatoula, LA

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
