"I was setting up a room for my daughter's dialysis machine, which requires a sink and drain. I installed a base for the sink, using a two foot square concrete slab. Before doing this, I rolled back the room's carpet so I could silicone the slab to the floor. I hired Mr. Herron to reinstall the carpet. He did an excellent job, going above what I thought was needed without extra cost. He found some of the old tack strip was loose and replaced it, which isn't easy on a concrete slab. He trimmed out the carpet around the pedestal slab and did an excellent job of fitting. I would not hesitate to hire him again, and have already recommended a prospective customer to him."

"They called and gave me a 45 min ETA., and was on time. Carpet looked new and smelled fresh. Some areas of carpet need repair and they gave me a prompt estimate that’s reasonable. I plan to hire them again. They aren’t the cheapest around but I go for quality and it worked out. My teenage boys don’t usually notice anything past the food in the kitchen and took time to say, "they did a good job"."

"Sun Glo got me an immediate appt.  The service man, Drew arrived on the time agreed.  He was efficient, courteous and cheerful.  He soaked up the water and placed a fan between the carpet and pad to dry for 2 days.  Because of the sewer placement, the pad was not drying properly so he replaced the pad upon his return. Of course, he had to stretch the carpet and replace the floor molding. The room looked great and there was no odor. The price was fair.  The manager, Mike was informative and answered all my questions and concerns.  He also worked with me within my time restrictions. I have used Sun Glo in the past for both my business and home carpet cleaning.  I was pleased then and I am very pleased now.  They helped me out of a tough situation. <br />"

"Very well. One installer. Protected new carpeting with floor quilt. Worked steadily, no breaks. Quiet, not real chatty. Paid attention to detail. Caulked miters as needed. Took 3 hours."

"I have an old rental house that was in need of some carpets. I called World of Floors, along with a few other carpet businesses in town. John from World Of Floors listened to what we were asking for told us where we could get the best deal on carpet (something I double checked after the fact {he was right, by the way!}) and was able to get us taken care of just a couple of days after the carpet was ready. The rooms look great and the install crew cleaned up nicely when they were done. I definitely will be calling them again when it comes time to redo the carpets in my house or my other rental! They were great to work with and quick to respond. I highly recommend them!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Rochester, MI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
