Stinson Services is a family owned and operated business that provides exceptional service to property owners in regards to exterior remodeling. We take pride in serving our customers from the first phone call to the final inspection. Specialties include: Roofing, Siding, Storm Damage Restoration & Gutters. License #BC455380 - Provide Free Inspections & Estimates - Storm Damage Restoration

"Stinson Services recently completed a roofing project at my home. My suburb had seen some hail back in the summer of 2020. As Stinson has done a fair amount of work in my immediate neighborhood, I asked for a roof inspection. After getting positive feedback from Dave at Stinson that my roof did in fact show signs of damage, I was urged to schedule a visit from my insurance adjuster. Dave spent an extended time up on the roof with the adjuster, on what was a brutally hot & humid summer day. This initial visit set the wheels in motion for a few additional cooperative visits between Dave and the insurance adjuster that eventually facilitated a partial insurance settlement for a new roof. Stinson was able to ultimately re-roof my home for what I believe was a reasonable out-of-pocket dollar amount beyond the insurance contribution. Thanks to Dave for the time and effort on my behalf. The roofing job itself occurred on the exact date promised. Hector, the Project Manager, had his roofing crew work efficiently to complete the project in a single day and also made enhancements to the roof's venting system. The workers cleaned up after the project and left the immediate areas adjacent to the house in good order. Throughout the process, I found all the folks at Stinson to excel in crystal clear communication. All contact with company representatives was positive and professional. Our new roof looks wonderful and the completed job adds significant curb appeal to our home. The final quality of the Stinson roofing project exceeded expectations. I would highly recommend the company to anyone interested in a roofing update, or any other home improvement that Stinson might be able to help with."

Northern Duct Seal seals duct work from the inside by use of computerized tools and equipment. The process takes one day and our technicians will provide pre-seal and post-seal duct leakage reports on the spot. The basic steps to do a duct seal are: 1) Pre-seal Test is done to measure duct leakage, 2) Registers, returns, and air handler coil are blocked off with foam plugs, 3) A UL-tested and approved aerosol is injected into the pressurized duct system, 4) A Post-Seal Test is performed to measure improvements and 5) A complete Report and Certificate are printed to provide the customer with a record of improvement. Duct sealing provides a solution to high energy bills, air flow/air balance issues, uneven temperatures, hot and cold rooms, excessive humidity, musty odors and fume smells from stored paints, solvents, pesticides, and radon gases. Northern Duct Seal will reduce duct leakage by up to 90%, saving customers an average of $600 - $850 a year, with a 2-3 year return investment, depending on variables such as weather, system usage, energy prices, and home design. Northern Duct Seal offers a 10- year warranty on the seals created by our technicians. The sealant itself has been UL tested and approved and is considered non toxic by OSHA. For a demonstration video of the duct sealing process please see the 'Ask This Old House' Video located under the Media tab on this page.

Priority has been in the construction trades since 1992 as a sub-contractor for many of the largest home builders in Rochester, MN, and surrounding areas. We have built our business on reliability, great service, execution and value. Our knowledge and experience in the construction industry is what makes Priority the right contractor for the job. We are EPA lead certified, which qualifies us as lead paint renovators. By law all contractors must have this to work on any home older than 1978.

"DO NOT HIRE THEM!! Their supposed "window professionals" sub contractors installed our bathroom window the wrong direction and we can't open it, so I am going to hire another company to fix it as I don't want to work with them anymore. They didn't double check the window size on a very large window before tearing old out and then realized window was bigger than opening. I had no choice but to allow them to cut bigger opening because siding that was scheduled couldn't go on until windows were finished so I was charged additional fees for their mess up. A lot of the "unforeseen issues" were from the subcontractors not double checking things or communicating with us in regards to the windows and doing things to run up a bill and I am being screwed over. 3 trips to do 6 windows because they only worked 4 hours a day. Also pulled old windows and just piled trash and broken glass from old windows in my front yard for an entire weekend until a different roofing sub contractors crew came following week and they cleaned up the window mess. Only thing done well was the siding and siding crew."

"It was a horrible experience, Justin gave a bid and sent a bill for $4k more than the bid, said the job would take 3 days and it still wasn't finished 5 1/2 months later, he took me to court to get paid for the job that still wasn't complete and pieces of steel were blowing off the roof. I won the court case to only pay him the original amount that he quoted, he has not come to repair his poor quality/craftsmanship. I'm stuck with a roof that is missing pieces and now have to hire another company to come in to fix his shotty work. I would advise anyone that is looking for any construction done to their property to run the other direction and save yourself the lost days of work and time sitting in court because he can't do his job the right way."

Spray foam insulation services FAQs

Yes, you should remove old insulation if it's damaged, contaminated, or deteriorated. Signs like water damage, rodent droppings, mold, or gaps mean removal is essential to maintain energy efficiency and a safe living environment. If the insulation is intact and functioning well, removal isn't necessary. However, compromised insulation can increase energy costs and pose health risks.

Attic insulation lasts 80 to 100 years; however, its performance starts to decline after 15 years. Insulation loses effectiveness as materials like fiberglass become dirty, wet, or affected by mold and other contaminants. Regular evaluation is critical because reduced insulation performance leads to higher energy loss. A professional inspection confirms when replacement is necessary, ensuring that your home maintains peak energy efficiency and comfort.

Excess attic insulation does not enhance energy efficiency beyond an optimal threshold. When insulation surpasses the necessary level for your region’s climate, additional material does not improve heat retention and may cause moisture buildup. Maintaining the correct balance is essential because over-insulation can lead to unintended issues without lowering energy costs. A professional assessment ensures that the amount of insulation is ideal for performance and efficiency, and helps avoid unnecessary expenses.

R-value is the measure of a material’s ability to resist heat transfer and directly determines insulation performance. A higher R-value means the material retains heat efficiently during winter and minimizes energy loss in warmer months. Selecting insulation with the appropriate R-value for your specific location is essential because environmental conditions and installation areas significantly influence energy efficiency. Over time, external factors like moisture may degrade the R-value, which underscores the importance of periodic evaluation.

Insulation damage occurs in several forms, including mold growth, pest infestations, water intrusion, and electrical harm. Damaged insulation compromises heat retention and significantly increases energy expenses while posing serious health risks. Immediate removal and replacement of compromised insulation are imperative to restore optimal performance and ensure the safety of your home. Regular inspections will identify these issues early, allowing for swift corrective action that maintains efficiency and protects occupants.
