"Eric from Vanguard was amazing to work with. My sewage grinder pump completely failed during the holidays. Not only did he text me within minutes of my submission, he came out the next morning, quickly assessed what could be done and replaced my pump the next business day. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient with time. The cost, all in, was well below what I had feared I would need to pay. Additionally, he offered future-looking advice (without any obligation) on things to consider in the future. I recommend Vanguard Plumbing to anyone seeking a plumber who is honest, friendly, efficient, and cost effective."

"I had a fantastic experience with Dan. Several other companies had quoted me outrageous prices to install a back-up sump pump, but Dan surveyed the situation and gave me a fair and reasonable quote. On the day of installation, the work was performed smoothly and Dan kept me appraised all the way through. I would recommend Dan's service to everyone looking for quality work at a fair price."

"Main Line Plumbing stayed on budget despite difficulty acquiring faucet parts. Responded in a timely manner. Other plumber businesses wanted to tear the wall apart, driving up costs. These guys managed the job without doing that. Five stars!"

"After taking a shower, I was unable to turn off the hot water. I shut off the main water, went to work, and selected Valle Plumbing based on their Angie's List score. I left a message that I had a plumbing emergency. David called back within the hour, saying he could be there between 2 and 3. He arrived shortly after 2 and spent the next 3 hours working on the tub. Because the house is old and this plumbing had previously been refitted with mis-matching parts, the job was a challenge. David and his partner were very professional and capable. I would not hesitate to call on them in the future."

"I had a sump pump that stopped working on a Friday evening. On Saturday morning, as I searched for a plumber to fix this issue, I found that all other providers charged a non refundable fee just for a technician to diagnose the problem. In contrast, Roma requested a picture of the issue, diagnosed the problem from the picture and provided me with a flat fee prior to arriving. My sump pump was replaced by 1pm and the customer service was excellent. I will continue to use Roma for any of my plumbing needs and recommend them to anyone who s looking for fair prices and superb customer service."

"My walk-out basement had a variety of issues that Harrison Construction fixed at a great price. The wall to the outside was very run down and had water and soil seeping through. Joel replaced the rotting siding, repaired the wall and water proofed it to prevent future water from getting in. Then on the inside he reinforced the wall, added insulation and replaced a couple outlets. Took a daunting project and fixed it all in a day! Will definitely be contacting him for future work."

FAQs for sewer main install, replace or repair projects in Rochester, NY

When installing a sewer line, you should consider extra costs like tree removal, driveway repairs, or patio resurfacing. Hiring a professional plumber is essential, and you may need additional specialists if landscaping or heavy excavation is involved. Addressing these potential extras up front helps ensure accurate budgeting and prevents sudden cost overruns.

To calculate the length of sewer piping you need, measure the distance from your house to the main sewer line, adding the depth of the city main to this distance. Be sure to account for any obstacles like tree roots or utility lines that may require additional piping.

City sewer lines are installed at a lower elevation to prevent unwanted backflow and water damage. This lower positioning ensures enhanced performance and long-term safety, meeting all technical and safety standards.

With trenchless methods, a plumber inserts a smaller pipe within the existing plumbing, avoiding full excavation. It can be more cost-effective and less disruptive than traditional methods, but it's not suitable for all homes.

Yes, you must secure permission from your local water authority before connecting to a public sewer line. This approval ensures your connection meets all regulatory requirements.

Sewer lines are buried between 18 inches and 8 feet deep, with most systems placed between 18 and 30 inches. In colder regions, pipes are set deeper to remain below the frost line.
