"I had my walls done in 2024. I ended up removing one wall for a remodel and found the wall had limited insulation from USA Insulation. I called them and they came out and look at it and did a thermal image. They said that a wire mess in the one room caused the wall to not be filled. They should have known there was an issue. I questioned the rest of the house and they said the thermal image showed no heat loss. I doubted them and they said they could drill holes in every room. I drilled three holes on the outside of my living room. One showed insulation but did not fill the cavity. The other two did not show any insulation that the thermal image did not catch. They offered me $250 for the one room. They have not responded to 2 emails and 2 phone calls after I found issues in the living room. They said they would make it right and told the BBB they would make it right and I have not heard from them for 3 months."

United Carpet & floor We are a family owned and operated Flooring Company with over 20 years of experience. We welcome everyone to stop in our store for any flooring needs.
"We decided to replace the tired carpet in our condo. United Carpet was our second stop in search of solid vinyl wood plank flooring. We were fortunate to meet Art McLeod, who showed us a vast array of options, We settled on Karndeen and found one we though would go well next to the existing parquet wood flooring in the rest of the condo. He urged us to take a sample home, and we were glad he did, for our sense of the color match was way off. When we returned he shows us what he thought would work. He "right" sold us, (others had tried to get us to take a more expensive product than we needed or wanted) offering us a product a bit less expensive than what we picked, but he assured us it was of equal quality and better for our application, over a concrete floor (we live an a converted 1903 schoolhouse). His selection was right on the money. He kept us apprised of the order and delivery dates and set up an install date based on our availability. His install crew, Jim and Bob arrived on time, calling ahead. Unfortunately they discovered the concrete under the carpet had heaves and cracks and would require leveling. They were craftsmen and did the job carefully and completely. A one day install dragging into four days, but we didn't mind, because we knew the job would be done well and right. They went out of their way to accommodate us in timing of arrival, and always kept us apprised of any need for them to briefly engage in a repair or other activity. They were not going to leave until the job was done perfectly, and they held to that promise. They were pleasant, respectful, and a pleasure to have in our home. We are thrilled with the product, with the installation and our entire experience with United Carpet has been excellent. We cannot recommend them highly enough."

We guarantee your satisfaction from start to finish. We Build, and You'll be Thrilled. Builders - Homes, Remodeling - General, Remodeling - Kitchen & Bathroom -
"Terrible. He broke a valve resulting in a flooded bathroom floor and left an open, leaking pipe that dripped into the basement through an open hole. My family is still without a toilet in that bathroom. The shower basin was the wrong size, so he was going to cut studs near electrical wiring to make it fit. I said that I wanted a Toto toilet. He bought a cheap brand for $150, a brand I have never heard of. We found the receipt in the bathroom. He had many reasons as to why he kept getting detained, one because he said he needed more money. The contract stated 50 percent at signing, another 25 percent upon completion of demo, and the final 25 percent on project completion. I paid him $4,550 on 12/4/2024, CASH. I paid another $1,500 on 12/21/2024 CASH, and $766 on 1/17/2025 CASH. He refused to work unless I paid him on 12/21/2024 because he said he had completed the bathroom demo, and according to the contract, $2,275 was required at completion of bathroom gutting, but the gutting was incomplete with mounds of insulation on the floor and the dumpster was still in our driveway. Even after I explained that the gutting was not complete until all debris was removed and the dumpster was gone, I still paid him, but I did this because he refused to work without this payment. When he began working again, contract specifications were not met. He continued not to show up for work, each time with an excuse, sick children, sick wife, car broke down, etc. I have never heard of a contractor who did not own a truck, but he did not. There were many warning signals, no business cards etc., but I gave him the benefit of the doubt because he had two young children. The contract was signed 12/4/2024 and I terminated his services on 2/11/2025, after 3 months without a toilet, shower, sink, etc. He was angry and threatened to sue me for breach of contract, but the more chances I gave him, the more I realized he had no clue what he was doing. Per your rating below, please clarify your scale, is 1 the best and 5 the worst? I can’t provide a rating with a clear understanding of your rating system. In the end, all he completed was the bathroom demolition. I can live with him keeping $1500 for that, even though it could have been done for much less. I would like a refund of $4,550 as he didn’t complete any work other than the demo and didn’t purchase materials that fit our bathroom requirements. Note: he is going to contest that he did spend money on supplies such as bathroom pipe pieces, toilet, shower enclosure, even though they were the wrong size. He took them from our work site. I pulled thousands of dollars from my retirement account, money that I believed would have resulted in a nice bathroom. My family has endured hardship without the bathroom, and I have been dealing with tremendous stress as a result. It is also taking me extra time to prepare this document for you, time that I need for more important priorities such as my health."

10 Employees. No subs. Cost is determined by the job. Travel charges may apply. Extra charge for after-hours service.
"A great experience from start to finish! Five star all the way! The estimate was done by D0nna who was punctual, knowledgeable, experienced and pleasant. Her follow-up communication was excellent. The estimate was detailed and fair. Communications/interactions with owner/managers Steve and Mike were always a positive experience. They are very knowledgeable about the hardwood flooring business and were a pleasure to work with. Installers Charles and Craig were excellent at their craft. They were punctual, worked hard the whole day, and cleaned up at the end. We were very happy with every aspect of the flooring they installed. The flooring that we had installed was a natural pre-finished select red oak from the Hardwood Outlet in Penfield. The folks there, Oz and Levant, were very helpful and accommodating in helping us choose the flooring that would best fit our needs. We took home numerous samples before making our final selection. Like Rochester Hardwood Floors, the Hardwood Outlet is a quality operation. All around, this was a great experience and we are very happy with the quality and value of the finished product. We look forward to recommending Rochester Hardwood Floors and the Hardwood Outlet to family and friends."

Using recycled egg cartons to soundproof a room is ineffective because these thin, porous materials fail to block sound waves. High-quality sound-dampening foam panels absorb sound energy completely and have a flat backing for secure attachment. This method guarantees enhanced noise reduction and an improved aesthetic, making it the reliable choice for soundproofing.
Soundproofing performed during new construction is more cost-effective than retrofitting an existing room. Incorporating soundproofing while building eliminates the need for extensive retrofits later, reducing labor and material expenses. New construction projects invest $15 per square foot, while retrofitting requires $30 per square foot. This proactive approach significantly enhances acoustic performance and value.
The best soundproofing approach is determined by the noise severity, room function, and the quality of materials used. For minor ambient noise, installing soundproof curtains may suffice. However, spaces exposed to heavy traffic or industrial sounds require insulation, specialized drywall, and superior window installations. Professional consultation ensures that every element meets the room’s acoustic requirements.
Sound Transmission Class (STC) quantifies a material's ability to block sound; higher STC ratings indicate superior soundproofing performance, ensuring less noise passes between spaces. This rating is essential when selecting windows, doors, or wall materials to meet specific acoustic performance standards.
While completely soundproofing a room is technically possible, it is not cost-effective due to extensive material and labor requirements. Targeting a noise reduction between 25% and 50% delivers significant acoustic improvement without exorbitant costs. An investment between $1,000 and $2,000 achieves outstanding results. Therefore, attaining complete silence is impractical for most residential projects.
