"Dan was here this morning, showed him where water was leaking in over our slab and ruining the flooring in the master bedroom. He gave me the full range of possible remedies, from installing a eaves gutter on the roofline outside the bedroom to a full (very expensive) sealing of the entire exterior foundation. And actually recommended that we start with the gutter (which I can do myself) and then monitor the area next rainy season and see if that fixes the problem. No pressure to hire them or spend big $$, just good advice. Couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommended- this is real service!"

"Make it Drain does amazing work! They know what they are talking about and they fit you into their schedule right away. They can handle all things plumbing related and only use the best quality materials when they have to do replacements. We had our main sewer line from the street back up. They ran a camera and discovered we had major root intrusion and the clay pipe had begun to separate. They dug an 8ft hole down to the problem area, ran a liner through the clay pipe and replaced the connection. We are so thankful to no longer have to worry about our plumbing backing up. We will be calling Marc and Ean for all of our future plumbing needs. This was a big job and I’ve never felt more confident in hired contractors. They are excellent to work with!"

"We had a stoppage in our patio drainage system near where several pipes meet. It wasn't clear exactly what the best avenue of attack would be. I suggested one opening which I thought was the straightest shot to the problem, but there was another the tech wanted to try first. That one seemed to lead to a T that couldn't be passed. The tech then used my original suggestion and that turned out to do the trick after some struggle with the blockage. There is usually an additional charge for going down more than one drain hole, but since success came with my original suggestion there was no additional charge which I thought was fair. In any event problem solved quickly and for the agreed upon price. <br /> BTW, concerning the price, there is a rate sheet on their web page that lays it all out which I appreciate. There are 3 tiers: regular, overtime and double time which correspond to regular hours, off hours/weekends, and late hours/sunday/holidays. I had the work done on a Saturday morning so the indicated rate was overtime. However, there was a moment of confusion at the point of final payment when the office claimed it should be double time since it was Thanksgiving weekend. The rate sheet, original over the phone conversation and the quote from the tech on arrival all were for the overtime not the double time rate. To their credit, this was honored without too much fuss. The take away here is make sure you know which rate you are expected to pay especially when you are booking on or near a holiday. For example, is the Saturday of Easter weekend double time? It might be. <br /> Anyway, great experience. I recommend The Drain Co. <br />"

"Unlike some other plumbers that we interviewed, Henrik employs a comprehensive re-piping plan which includes all new valves (emergency shut off valves), new pressure regulator, new sink hose connections and patching of holes. This feature attracted us to Henrik the most. In addition, Henrik insulated all hot water pipes to increase efficiency, a detail not originally included in new house construction. Also, other plumbers estimated that our re-pipe would take 5 – 6 days to complete. Although Henrik’s original estimate was for 1 ½ to 2 ½ days to complete our home, we were lucky to have a whole team of six installers working on our house who installed new piping within just one day! While researching potential plumbers to re-pipe our home, I found Henrik had received high marks and customer satisfaction on several web sites including Angie’s List, Home Advisor and Yelp. A company, such as Henrik, that almost exclusively does nothing but re-piping, both commercial and residential, develops expertise in this plumbing specialty which is reflected in the high quality re-pipe job on our home. The patching crew also did an excellent job with patching. We were impressed with their whole work product. In their customer satisfaction survey form, Henrik’ goal is to exceed their customers’ expectation. We can state unequivocally that Henrik exceeded our expectations. We received very good value for our money! From the beginning of the process, from the estimator’s detailed walk through, to the final phase of patching, Henrik Plumbing acted professional, courteous and helpful. We could not have asked for a better experience. It gives us peace of mind to know we have a "lifetime of the home" guarantee and a 50 year warranty on the thicker copper pipe."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Rowland Heights, CA

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
