The reason this rating isn't higher is because the crew chief had been in my house no more than 10 minutes before diagnosing what he said was a dangerous level of creosote in our chimney and recommending installation of a $1,000+ chimney liner, which his company would of course be happy to sell us. The next year I hired another service - Emener ([*** Link removed ***] - which told me that the chimney was actually in good shape and pretty clean considering how much we use the fireplace. 5 Star clearly used its promotional offer as a way to upsell an expensive add-on that I am now convinced wasn't needed. "These guys did an outstanding job.  Prompt, professional, honest, friendly, kept a neat work site, beautiful work and had an excellent price.  My house was built in 1906 and the old chimney above the roofline was in pretty rough shape - ready to come down.  I had four different companies that I found on Angies List come over and give estimates.  Rich was the first person to come for an estimate and ultimately the one I chose.  His estimate was lower than the competition and gave a good first impression.  They came over a couple weeks later to do the rebuild and I couldn't be more pleased.  They were here for two days, always here when they said they would be and immediately set-up staging to demolish the old chimney.  The new chimney is beautiful - they used nice looking bricks and installed a nice cap.  It's a brand new chimney, but it looks like it's always been here.  I would highly recommend these guys.

"I recently had FRS Roofing install a roof on my home. I was impressed with the way they conducted business, and I am very happy with the finished product. One of their salesmen, Joseph Costello went on my roof and filmed the issues he saw that needed attention. He showed me a video on his computer of the inspection he had just completed of my roof. He then showed me his suggestion of what should be done and also had samples of the materials that FRS would use on the roof replacement. I was impressed with the materials that would be used and chose FRS to replace my roof. I watched the roofers replace the roof and perform the work and cleanup. After the job was complete Joseph Costello once again went on the roof and filmed the finished product for me to view on his computer. Very happy with the entire process, Thank You."

"I selected Bob's Magic Broom based on feedback from Angie's List. Last month, when my furnace was serviced, the serviceman noted that chimney was not drawing as it should and recommended a cleaning. I checked my records and the last cleaning was in 2000. We have two flues - one for the furnace and one for a fireplace which is almost never used. The sweep (Joe) checked and fireplace and agreed it did not need cleaning, but the furnace flue was very bad and almost blocked. The cleaning took about an hour from beginning to end. The sweep cleaned up. I had no mess at all. I asked Joe how often I should have the chimney cleaned and he said about every other year. What I appreciated was that the service was prompt, courteous, and no hard upsell. I would definitely use Bob's Magic Broom again and highly recommend them to all."
