"Contacted the company through Angie's List and promptly received a telephone call. I had a laundry list of 14 minor home repairs, and the person I spoke with listened to the first six or so and set up an appointment for 10:30 - 11:30 the following Monday. The work was subbed out to another contractor, who arrived around 9:45 a.m. (That was fine with me.) Here's my list and the work performed:
New caulk for bathtub in second bathroom - caulking done around the edge of tub, but not where tub meets floor
New caulk for master bedroom shower and toilet - caulking done around the edge of shower, but not where shower enclosure meets floor
Replace door knob into gargage - completed
Replace door knob into laundry room - completed
Fix weather stripping at bottom of front door - completed
Fix master bedroom closet door - not completed because contractor didn't have planer
Fix light fixture in the hallway - Said completed, but not completed (Light fixture was cleaned but not fixed)
Fix leak in master shower - completed
Fix smoke detector in hallway - completed
Affix dishwasher housing to cabinetry - completed
Fix second bedroom closet door - Said completed, but not completed (he smacked it so it got back on its track, but there's still a problem because the door won't roll smoothly)
Fix freezer door handle - Not completed, but he gave me the number of an appliance repair person he recommended
Rewire vintage lamp - Not completed; he said it wasn't necessary
Fix sliding glass door lock - Said completed, but not completed (I ultimately had the lock replaced by another provider)
The person who performed the work was friendly, competent, and quick. I wish that all of the items on my list had been completed, but am happy with the work that was done.

"The power wash and clean-up were both very perfunctory. Many garden plants are speckled with paint. That said, the price was very reasonable and the house has been painted. Considering the hasty prep that was done, I only hope the paint job lasts a few years.

Spectrum One assigned me a public adjuster that dealt with my insurance company on my behalf, which in itself is a blessing! Their quality of work was outstanding! I had also made a few changes in the repair process and their team made sure I had change orders and knew EXACTLY what I was paying for the changes I was making and had an updated contract to me within 24 hours. The crew and staff were all very professional and friendly, I was actually sad to have my job ending! Paul (the owner), was especially pleasant to work with! He made sure I knew where we were at and any changes to the schedule since I had left out of town for 10 days. I have a few more additional projects that I will be needing services on in the very near future and I cannot wait to hire them back again! Thank you Spectrum One for your outstanding services! "We had been trying to install a patio in our backyard for several months to replace a damaged wooden deck that a previous owner had built (and bulit very poorly at that). With our own labor, we had demolished the deck, attempted to shore up the wooden patio cover, and excavated a pit for a paving stone patio... and then we ran out of gas. After calling several contractors, we finally chose John Irwin and Royal Garden Landscaping, as he indicated that he could do all the work that we wanted, which included re-using pavers that had been installed elsewhere in our yard for the new patio and doing some work on the patio cover to anchor it more securely.
The weekend before the work started was the tail end of the big storm system that swept through Northern California in early December, so the entire backyard was flooded, including the pit that we had dug for the foundation of the patio. John came over on a Saturday afternoon with a sump pump that he loaned us to drain the yard, and the work started the following Monday.
The entire week was on and off rain, but the Royal Garden Landscaping crew worked tirelessly over several days to complete the job. The mason did a great job, and the prep crew worked their butts off to get everything ready for the installation. When it came time to work on the patio cover, there were some significant difficulties for the crew, as the existing structure, like the deck that it once covered, was not especially well-built, but they literally worked into DARKNESS (remember this was early December) to get the work done. The entire job took four days total (an additional day was lost due to rain) and finished by Friday evening. John returned with the mason and the carpenter once the work was completed to do some follow up work, and he also made sure that the clean up was done properly. We are very happy with our new patio and appreciate all the work that John Irwin and Royal Garden Landscaping did to get it done in a timely and professional manner.
