"Excellent! Ed is very professional and stands by his work. I have used him for both my houses. Before installing the french drain, he believed I had problem with one of my windows under the deck. He sealed the window up, but, unfortunately, I was still having a bit of a water issue. He came back immediately, and installed the french drain. He gave me a credit toward the price of the French drain for the amount I paid to seal the window. It has been over a year, and, even with all the nor easters we've had...not a drop of water! I was finally able to finish my basement without fear of water damage."

"Fantastic! Ron is the Best! Thoroughly explained all aspects of what needed to be done. Aside from Pump out of my system, he inspected portions with a camera to verify the condition / type of overflows. Perfect reconstruction of my Lawn - Very Neat - Great Pricing, Especially compared to other companies I have hired in the past for this service. I will never hire a different company for this service in the future - Evergreen / Ron is My Preferred Choice for the Life of my home ownership. Thanks Ron!"

"Experience was very good. However. I have still not received a detailed quote for the job. I think our salesman was a bit turned off by the fact that we were in a rush to leave with our children after he was in our home for over over an hour and a half. We didn’t need the sales pitch. We like the product and your reputation. If you could please send a detailed quote it would be much appreciated. If we don’t receive it we will be forced to look elsewhere for basement waterproofing."

"<p>after searching angie's list, it seemed like the grout guy would be the best choice for our needs. we had painted our old stained and dirty grout a darker color after trying on our own to clean it and were unaware that was not a good idea. only after glen came and explained to me how it will now cost a lot more to get this floor and grout looking like new again did I find this out. his initial responsiveness was impressive to begin with, think he tried getting back to me 2x within 24 hrs of my initial call to him. he told me because of my painting the grout, he could not do the job properly without having the floor professionally steam cleaned 1st which would remove most of the old paint in the grout. he recommended "ernie" of everclean inc, another excellent service provider I found out. they both said the kitchen floor will look "like new" and "nite and day". coming from glen and ernie, you don't take this as a come on and I am a skeptic. I decided to invest the money and take their word for it. ernie came one day, glen and his nice son mike the next, and bingo, looked like a new floor!</p> <p>Glen the Grout Guy and easy to work with, excellent in his evaluation prior to commitment, and does not make you feel like your being taken for a ride so to say. he deserves all those excellent reviews.  No complaints here!</p> <br />"

"Dan Bozzo and his crew did an excellent job at every stage. It took a total of two days, they started the job within a week, and arrived promptly as agreed. The demolition and drywall crew worked so cleanly on the room. They tarped off anything that needed it, even outside the two bedrooms. They cleaned as they went, and worked with the doors closed, so the rest of the house wasn’t covered in dust and debris. They also did an amazing job with the taping and spackling. Again, clean and quick. The ceilings all came out beautiful and we would definitely use them again, and recommend them to friends."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Sag Harbor, NY

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
