"Although the communication on the front end could have been a tiny bit better, Anton did a gorgeous job with our kitchen backsplash at a reasonable price. He clearly does know his craft. My only other small quibble is that we are bearing the time and expense of returning an entire box of tile, including a restocking fee. Anton advised ordering extra just in case some tiles are broken or otherwise not usable. That might be prudent to do, but it would be helpful to know on the front end."

"They are excellent! They did two bathrooms, a mud room and a two sided fireplace for us. They gave great recommendations, were timely, so respectful and dependable. They worked so hard and the end result is perfection. We are so happy with the work they did and will definitely be using them again. Highly recommend!"

"Jim was extremely professional and has excellent communication skills. We were aware of all aspects of the salon project details as it progressed. Jim expects nothing but excellence from his sub contractors, and was on top of any issues immediately as they arose. Being that we have a 1947 home, many unexpected things can come up and be uncovered, it was a huge relief to find that we could leave it in his hands and not have to be concerned.... every time the situation was always resolved better than we expected! Overall, the salon turned out better than I had imagined and am SO pleased with my new space. I would, and have many times already, highly recommend Emerald Remodeling for any of your remodeling needs. I can describe Jim in this way.... Jim takes on, and sees your project, as if it were his own! Top notch work!"

HomeAdvisor makes it easy to connect with pros near you. You can read reviews, get quotes and book appointments all in one place.
Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
Saint Paul Addition & Remodeling Contractors are rated 4.6 out of 5 based on 145 reviews of 145 pros.
