"I had two rooms done.  They were definitely comparable to their competitors.  For price, because we did look at a few others and we went with them, I thought their price was competitive with everybody else.  For quality an A, only because we did have a problem with the carpet and we went back through them, and they always advertise that they are with you for life; and it was about a year later and a line started to materialize on the carpet, as well as even though it was stain resistant, it easily stained.  So we called them and they got in contact with the company that manufactured the carpet, they sent out a rep, they stood behind it, and we're in the process now of getting it replaced with a different carpet.  We didn't have to use the same carpet because we were unhappy with it.  Yes, I would use them again, absolutely,  hands down.  They're always in contact, keeping you up to date on what's going on, very punctual, they do really good work, and they do stand behind the product just like their advertising says. "

"I purchased a washer and dryer from Lowe's . They delivered  them the next day and  tried to install them. They gave us the wrong cord for the dryer and the delivery man could not finish the installation . He called Lowe's and  the Manager of that dept. said he would bring us the right cord on his way home and finish the installation . That is exactly what he did.   This is outstanding service. <br /> Thank you Lowe's. We will buy all our appliance's from Lowe's from now on.. <br /> Brenda Poage <br />"

"The subcontractors were great and did a great job. They called during the install to clarify any issues or concerns, and they called afterward to see if I thought there were any problems. <br /> I love the floor but I didn't like the transitions though they were the ones the manufacturer sells to go with my floor. They are not quite the same color as the flooring as they are laminate and the floor is wood. I will have them replaced with wood ones, so Floored agreed to take the transitions off my bill. Thus, I will shop at Floored again. <br />"

"Their price was reasonable, installation was pain-free, and they did a good job.  We're perfectly satisfied and would use them again.  Pricing was probably number one on our list and their price was very competitive, and we were happy with it.  For quality, it's held up so far; no problems.  They were really very good to work with.  They scheduled it and then showed up on time.  Were they polite, courteous, and professional?  Yes. "

"I had carpet installed by Carpetland (separate review) and my precious little pup almost immediately dug up a couple seams and corners. <br /> I called David to see if he could do the repairs. On the phone he listened to my issue and made a good faith estimate based on the conversation. He was very accommodating in trying to schedule the repairs and was able to fit it in within the week. He called and confirmed the time the day before and again just before arriving.   <br /> David and Matt were very pleasant and professional on arrival, going above and beyond, understanding about my rambunctious puppies. They were able to assess the situation and start work quickly. They did an excellent job, it looks great. The area was cleaner when they were done than when they started. His phone estimate was spot on and a very good deal. <br /> I would most definitely recommend Trinity Flooring for your flooring needs. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Salem, VA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
