"They used a grinder to level our garage floor so the garage door sealed all the way. Very helpful. Also moved some rocks I couldn't lift. Very pleased with their service."

"Drew and his team did an exceptional job making our landscaping dreams come to life. Drew was incredibly responsive and easy to work with. He kept us updated and did a great job of checking in during the process when little changes were possible/necessary. We are a new construction home in an established neighborhood, so we wanted a certain look. He installed rain gardens, a bio swale, a blue stone paver patio, concrete pads, arbor vitae, two retaining walls, a sprinkler system, and planter boxes, as well as planting many flowers, bushes, shrubs, etc., We are so happy and would 10/10 reccomend!"

Kevin B. VanErt, Jr. established VanErt's Lawn Service in 1997, beginning as a residential mowing company. At age 16, he mowed 40 lawns a week in a manufactured home neighborhood.\n After high school, Kevin planned to attend college to study engineering, but decided to wait one year to earn funding. Soon, four years had gone by and the company grew from a push mower in the back of his parent's Suburban to trailers, riding mowers and his second pick-up truck. The possibilities of success soon outweighed the option of attending college.\nOver the next five years, landscaping became his passion. Learning to run the business was difficult, but working outdoors and creating unique projects was fun. \n After working on many national disaster projects through local churches and Samaritan's Purse, Kevin decided to start doing more building construction projects and now focuses on hardscapes and home repair work.

"I Had RJ Brothers Cement widen and replace my driveway in June of 2022. This is how it looks 2 years later. Their response was "unfortunately there is nothing we can do". We followed all of their recommendations of care and did NOT use salt on the driveway. Though the job was originally performed in a professional manner I would not use their services again in the future nor would I recommend their services due to the outcome just 2 years later."

"After spending $30K with them to "repair" my foundation, it's been over a year now that I've been waiting for them to come back to finish the job and do the warranty the work that they said they would do. Since they've been paid, I can't get any response from them. The work they did was horrible, not according to the Architects plan, they used different materials and did the work improperly. They said that they would be coming back to correct it all. After several no shows and no responses, I had to file a state complaint against this company, it's owner and license holder. Meanwhile my home continues to suffer more because of their caliber of workmanship and lack of ability to do their job properly. If possible, I would not give them any stars!"

"We had the driveway seams caulked. Most of the work looked good, but some areas did not. We were told to wait until the spring and recontact them. We did, and someone came out while we were at work and took a look at the seams. Per the company, everything looks fine and there is nothing to fix. We tried to contact them again, as there are parts collecting debris and pulling away from the cement. Nothing has been corrected at this time. Original job completed Early Oct 2023."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Saline, MI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
