"Brite Electric was the best company I have worked with. Customer service is second to none. They did a complete new construction wire of my Tiny House/RV including hook ups. Pete and Richard were professional, easy to work with, showed up on time, did everything they said they would for the estimate they gave, and went completely above and beyond. I cannot say enough good things about them. They were extremely reasonable, and I will absolutely hire them for any future work and recommend them to others. Thank you Pete and Richard! I wish I could give more than 5 stars!"

"Allgood is a great electric company. The gentlemen sent to work on installation and upgrading panels did a terrific job. They were professional, focused, polite, and most informative as they worked. Their pricing was exactly what I thought it should be, which was great. I have a new list of items I want them to work on. Can't wait."

"We had a great experience with Gerardo and his team at Thundercolt Electric. They were very responsive following our initial outreach, were quick to get the job done, and I think were very, very fair in pricing! The quick turn-around time includes willingness to return for a second trip to finish installation after drywall repairs were done. There were a few bumps due to some old electrical wiring in our home from 1950s, but Gerardo took the time to explain to us what was going on and how we would fix it. Will definitely be using Thundercolt Electric again when other needs arise! Thank you!"

"Outstanding communication and very professional service. I would highly recommend Mr. Electric. Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work. Wish all home service providers did the same. Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early). He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage. To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work. No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall."

"Yesterday Miguel and Maro did an outstanding job installing a 75 lb elaborate chandelier in our dining room. They had to hang it from a 14 foot tray ceiling and upgrade/ reinforce the mount inside the attic. Weâ ve utilized Enoch deviously for a number of AC, water heater, and lighting projects. We highly recommend them for anything and all similar home projects. Wendy and John"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in San Antonio, TX

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
