"After receiving three quotes from various companies, we decided to hire San Diego Abatement Services. They came in and did a wonderful job accommodating my elderly parents, explaining what needed to be done and were professional in handling all aspects of the job. My parents are very pleased with their services and will hire them again to finish the rest of the house. <br />"

"Overall, they did a good job. They are friendly and very helpful. we had a little mess to clean up after, but to be fair, I didn't complain -- if i had they would have come back. Preferably they would have come back to check on their own."

"Within an hour, I was contacted to set up an estimate which happened later that day which I really appreciated. Dave checked the wall damage, made sure it wasn't an ongoing moisture problem, etc. and schedule a repair. The crew came out, did a terrific job of patching the wall, repainting and making it look seamless. They did a great job, were quick, professional, easy to work with and we'll be hiring them again for other projects for sure!"

"Last month I discovered that my water heater was leaking and after having a plumber <br /> over to fix it he recommended I contact a restoration company to handle all of <br /> the repairs and dry out. We did a little searching around the internet and came <br /> across Orange Restoration. We decided to give them a call and got through to a <br /> friendly man named Evan. He was very helpful at describing the process to us <br /> and sent a technician out to check out the damage that same day! We received a <br /> quote later that week and after calling a few other companies we decided we <br /> would give them a shot. Their technician, Jonathan, showed up a few days later as scheduled and began working <br /> on repairing the damage. All the work was completed on time and without any <br /> additional costs. They dealt with our insurance provider and the adjuster <br /> directly so we were able to avoid that hassle. Overall we were very impressed <br /> with their work. It looked better than it originally looked before the water <br /> leak! <br /> After all said and done, I would give Orange Restoration 5 stars for their <br /> friendly customer service, quick response, and top notch work!"

"I’m happy to modify a previous review to express my satisfaction with Sherlock Heating and Air. My wife and I have counted on Sherlock Heating and Air to address our HVAC needs for nearly 6 years now. We happily referred them to friends and family for HVAC needs throughout that time. Our first review is a testament to that. Recently we noticed one of our HVAC units was not blowing as cold as we remembered. We arranged for a service visit and received some unpleasant news about the condition of the condenser coils. After a second visit from one of Sherlocks customer care representatives, my wife and I decided to pause for a bit to understand exactly what the issue was and to be sure we knew all of the options. Given that the news was unexpected, we hadn’t assembled or thought of all the questions that began to arise afterwards, however we were presented with a fair amount of detail and some options for repair during the consultation. Shortly thereafter we reached out to Sherlock Heating and Air once again and after some dialogue with the helpful front office we received an email from Aaron Sherlock, the owner of the company, expressing concern about our situation. He offered to take time out of his schedule to personally talk to us and even visit our home to discuss concerns. This was very genuine as I ended up personally talking to him for quite a bit on the phone which helped me understand exactly what the source of concerns were, and clarified a way forward for my wife and I. Real, personal interaction from a corporation seems to be less common these days. Having an owner directly contact you is exceptional. I value the time the Sherlock team took to address our concerns. We learned quite a bit and wish more companies provided post-sales and service support the way they did."

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in San Diego, CA

Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring mineral fibers once commonly used in building materials because of their resistance to heat, electricity, and corrosion. However, in 1975, research confirmed that these fibers cause mesothelioma and other cancers, leading to strict usage laws. If your home contains asbestos, removing it can prevent long-term health effects. You'll often find asbestos in the flooring, ceilings, pipes, and roofing of homes built before the 1990s. Common asbestos-containing materials include vermiculite insulation, vinyl flooring, millboard, and corrugated roofing. If you suspect you have asbestos or any of these materials in your home, it's important to hire a reputable abatement company to perform testing.

Currently, there is no federal licensing mandate for asbestos removal contractors. However, certain cities and states require certification and specialized training. For example, in some areas, contractors handling asbestos must receive an Asbestos Handler Certification. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure any contractor you hire meets the necessary requirements.

Homes constructed before the 1990s can conceal asbestos within building materials, and testing provides a definitive answer. You should have your home tested by a certified asbestos inspection service. This professional evaluation identifies hazardous materials and determines whether removal or encapsulation is necessary. Testing safeguards your family’s health and supports smart budgeting for remediation.

Federal law does not require you to disclose the presence of asbestos when selling your home. However, certain states and local jurisdictions impose disclosure regulations that you must follow. Testing and professional remediation confirm that hazardous materials are properly managed. This proactive approach not only meets legal requirements but also protects your property’s value and buyer health.

Asbestos removal affects a home’s resale value because hazardous materials can deter potential buyers. Having toxic substances present lowers buyer confidence and may reduce the property’s value by 1% to 15% if not addressed. Professional remediation ensures safety standards are met and preserves marketability, protecting your long-term investment.

Grants exist at both federal and state levels to support asbestos testing and removal projects. Local housing programs may also offer financial assistance when asbestos is discovered during home repairs. Meeting certification and testing standards is required to secure these funds, which help to manage overall project costs while ensuring safe remediation.
