"Price was justified for the same day installation. Also, was a easy going fellow, who wasn't pushy. Would definitely hire again for other projects down the road. Thanks again Alex G."

"Handyman Carpentry came through for me and my family! Our door was kicked in and I needed to feel safe immediately. Mr. Kevin came through with a fast response, and great work. He kept in contact throughout the entire time! Reasonable and fair pricing. This was an emergency for me and Mr. Kevin and his squad came through. We will definitely be calling on him again for more carpentry and home improvement jobs! Thank you and I pray nothing but growth and success for you and your business!!"

"Very professional crew. They erected a 4ft decorative fence and topped the fence with screens that allowed only partial sun. Also they took out a old sidewalk to the garage and put in a new sidewalk. They care a lot about doing good work and keeping the customer happy. Would defineately hire again."

"They were on time and did a great job. Our door was worn and faded; even had some cracks. It looks great after they sanded and restrained it. I’m interested to see how the marine-grade clear coat holds up after a year too. I think $400 is a lot to pay but that’s what all of them are charging now. And the door definitely looks way better. I am glad we had it done."

"We had 2 glass patio doors that needed to be replaced so we could install a dog door. Sherman came to our house within a day of calling him. He measured everything, made a list of items he would need, and sent us to Home Depot to order the door we wanted and the shopping list of supporting materials. Thus, we paid for the cost of materials directly to Home Depot. When everything arrived 10 days later, Sherman was available to install the door within 3 or 4 days. He picked up the door and materials from Home Depot, brought them to our home, arrived on time as promised and installed the doors within 3 hours. He began work on a dog door. Due to a parts mismatch that was the dog door's fault, not Sherman's, he had to find custom screws, available only from a specialty hardware store. He spent 2 hours finding these special screws, had them made, paid for them, and installed them. He spent more time on the trivial dog door than the incredibly well finished patio door. Our costs were $325 in labor, paid to Sherman after all work was completed, and the cost of materials, paid to Home Depot (about $700)."

"Called GDS to have a very loud Genie chain drive opener replaced with a Guardian belt drive opener on Friday January 15th at about 3:00 pm. We were quoted a price and that is exactly what it cost . . . no hidden gotchas. GDS sent an installer out on Saturday morning by 9:00 am. Received a call 20 minutes before arrival Work began on time. Work was completed on time. All that I would expect from GDS. We've used them twice before with superior results. The installer was professional, friendly, very polite, answered all my questions, and cleaned up after he was finished. He explained all that I needed to know about the new opener. He even made modifications to allow the door to open up further than with the old opener without any up charges. We couldn't be happier with the work performed When we're ready to replace the other door opener, there's only one company that we will be considering . . . Neighborhood Garage Door Service of San Antonio. They do great work and they are very responsive <br />"

"We have been a customer of Precision Garage Door for several years, both in San Marcos and now San Antonio, and we’re always very pleased with the products and services. Our latest transaction with Precision was to replace an old garage door (we had already replaced the opener with Precision a couple of years ago). I started on the website to take a look at the general styles and options for the doors. The website is very helpful as a starting point: I got to “test drive” different doors in different colors and against different exterior siding to get a good idea of what the doors looked like. For the appointment to get a quote and order the door, Jason Dawson was great to work with. He was very thorough and listened well. He mentioned different options that I might be interested in and was very knowledgeable about the products. The door installation was performed by Ronnie Garcez, who did a great job! Ronnie is very personable and knowledgeable. He took time to make sure everything was working properly before he left, and thoroughly answered any questions that I had. The door itself exceeded our expectations – it’s even more good-looking than I had anticipated. We had insulation added to the door and are impressed by the clean and sturdy way it is installed. The door opens and closes so smoothly and quietly, we love it."

"Alex and his brother did a fine job. Thye arrived on time, worked both quickly and efficiently, and left no mess. Most importantly my wife was very comfortable with them in our house. Both were courteous and even found the time to do some additional, extra work. The finished, installed door looks fantastic and we couldn't be more pleased. I would enthusiastically recommend Alex and his brother for any needed door work."

FAQs for storm door installation projects in San Antonio, TX

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
