"Very professional. Arrived when promised, and assessed the work needed. Their estimate was not within my budget. I was able to find a handyperson to take care of this, instead."

Small jobs welcome

"Home Advisor does not have the specific category for the work that was performed of replacement of graded retaining wall up my driveway and around a structure. The work utilized excavation, concrete, wood & construction. Cristian, the owner, was the epitomy of professionalism as with every crew member. Firstly, he did not try to sell me on something I did not want, much appreciated. The job was meticulously executed in record time at the price I could pay. This job has been on my bucket list for years... finally completed with a job well done!"

"I had a trenchless sewer line replacement done on my property. I got a great price for all of the work they did and incredible customer support. They repaired everything as though they were never there. I had a great experience working with Platinum General Engineering & Construction. They handled everything from start to finish without me having to deal with the city or other headaches. I highly recommend them!"

"After getting several enthusiastic responses from the references that Nato gave us we quickly decided that this was the company we wanted to work with. The work went smoothly and what impressed me most was that they were here every day. One day when they had an emergency at a past project Nato called up explained and said he would work Saturday to keep on schedule, which he did. He was very interested in our opinion of the work performed and took every one of our requests seriously and did all of our changes with out complaint or acrimony. To put it plainly he was a pleasure to work with. Nato always said that we could call if there was ever any problems and after the job was done and paid for we had a request and he was there and handled everything exactly as promised."

"When we purchased the house, it was a 30 year old home. Almost everybody in the period of five years to seven years wanted to convert to copper plumbing. So what they offered at that time was anyone you referred to if they chose to use their service, you have $500 cash payment which was really nice because half of our neighbors and our family members used them. I do not know what they do now, but it is a really nice service because they are a very good company. They did a great job."

FAQs for excavation major grading or resloping projects in San Francisco, CA

You can excavate in winter, but frozen soil slows down the process and increases labor costs. Many grading companies offer discounted rates during their off-season, so ask for a winter quote and weigh the savings against a longer timeline. A brief conversation with a local professional will help determine whether cold-weather excavation is suitable for your site.

Foundation digs can be completed in as little as three days or take up to three weeks. Soil density, access, weather, and hidden obstacles all play a role, so every timeline is a bit different. Have your contractor walk the site and flag any potential issues early—clear expectations help keep both the schedule and budget on track.

You must always call 811 before excavating. Dial 811 a few days in advance so that utility crews can mark underground lines and ensure the area is safe for digging. Hitting a buried cable or gas pipe can be both dangerous and expensive, and many municipalities will not issue permits unless the site is flagged correctly.

To remove soil during an excavation project, your crew will load the spoil into dump trucks with a backhoe or excavator, haul it to a disposal site, and return for the next load. Efficient hauling keeps the work zone clear and the project moving. Depending on the site and volume of osil, multiple trucks may rotate to maintain a steady flow.
