"The Groundworks folks (formerly Bay Area Underpinning) applied their foundation-underpinning technology and expertise to extend to bedrock, level, square up the foundation for an extensive house remodel. I was most impressed by the young man onsite supervisor, Josh who answered all my work done, how and why questions. I wish this info was provided up front by the estimator. (My design-build remodel contractor referred this company). "

"From start to finish it was a very pleasant experience. The workers who came out to a simple the cabinets and put on the Apoxsee floor were very professional and courteous. I would highly recommend them to anybody who wants epoxy flooring or cabinets."

"25 years at this house and in wet winters we would have a damp smell coming up from the crawlspace. Rats were out of control too. We had sump pumps all around the house. Always cleaning or replacing or re-setting GFI outlets. I did it all myself. Finally I called his company to replace some sump pumps. Estimator came out and said they don't do that. They encapsulate the crawlspace. I said what about the pumps? He said it won't matter any more. I went for it. <br /> They just left and couldn't wait to get underneath and look. I am very pleased with the workmanship. If you look at the photos (hey angie can I post photos?), they fastened this 20mil reinforced plastic sheeting to the sides of the foundation using rivets. Not a bit of dirt or debris to be seen. The crew was very professional. Very polite, lots of drop clothes to protect the floors. Their workmanship was very good. If they were my crew, I would be very pleased. <br /> Just a word of caution - not a deal breaker but...the first day required a lot of dirt work. Invariably the house became dusty. I would have put painters tarp over couches and other soft surfaces. Second, don't be surprised to have some smell of epoxy - the material they use to glue the sheets together. It goes away in a day. It's part of the install which makes me happy they use it. So far I'm very happy with the job. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Adrian was always easy to communicate with and work with throughout the project and provided terrific on-site oversight. The job was done on time and on budget and, as much as possible for a large project, the job site was kept neat. Based on my experience with Adrian, my family members have since used Mulhall Construction for foundation work on their homes and been pleased with the results, as well. I enthusiastically recommend Mulhall Construction!"

"We tried to get someone from Angies list a year ago for this project.  The first contractor put me off month after month until I just decided he was not interested.  The 2nd contractor was ready to go but then my husband tried to negotiate price after we had a signed contract and that p***** him off so he canceled.  We finally got a break in the weather and the desire to finish this a year later. Ben came out for an estimate 30 minutes after we called him!  Then provided a quote shortly after that and was ready to go to work 2 weeks after we initially called for the estimate.  The price was better than we'd had in the past and I appreciated Ben's professionalism keeping us posted about his availability which only slipped 1 day.  The deck was completed in 3 days and Ben helped my husband & I come to a good design decision when my husband started to falter on the design.  Ben surprised us with the pull out hinged part of the deck (which was not in his original estimate) when he could see I was concerned about access for the hot tub maintenance.  Ben provided everything we wanted and then more by completing the deck to the ground to keep the critters out. <br />"

"Their rep observed the water damage under my kitchen sink and sent me an estimate. Their workers arrived on time to remove the water damaged cabinetry, taking extreme precuations over the possiility of mold. It turned out there was no mold, but they removed all the supporting framework  beneath the sink> It turned out they didn't do restoration work, but told me they had a contractor they worked with and would have him contact me. This was on a Friday morning. Later we noticed that the sink was "sinking" due to the lack of any support beneath it. We called them and they sent over one of the demolition guys who braced it with a two by two. It turned out their regular contractor was busy, and they recommended another guy who came by, looked over the job, and gave me an estimate of almost $4,500 to restore the boxworks behind the intact cabinet doors. I later had an independent contractor do the repair work for approximately $1400.  I felt like they viewed their part of the job as complete, and were disinterested in my satisfaction about the entire repair job, which they should have seeen through to completion. <br />"

"We previously hired Comet for an emergency major leak in one of our bathrooms (significant enough that we had to turn the water off in our entire house). The owner came by late at night and didn't quit until leak's sealed and water back up and running. He was professional and courteous and gave us several options instead of pushing one way or another. So when we've finally decided to re-pipe our house we called on Comet. Again, we were given several options and were given updates every step of the job. <br /> In the 3 days it took to finish the job, he was very methodical and organized that we were never without water running at the end of the day. We appreciate his respect for our time (he would show up right when he said he would and called if he's held up somewhere else). The job was inherently messy but another thing that we appreciate is his respect for our space/place. He was careful not to make too much of a mess and left everything in order. We would definitely recommend him to our friends and family. <br />"

FAQs for foundation, basement or crawlspace waterproofing / encapsulation projects in San Martin, CA

The most affordable way to waterproof your basement is with interior methods like waterproof paint, costing between $1 and $8 per square foot, or silicate concrete sealers priced at $4 to $6 per square foot. However, these solutions are only suitable for certain issues. If your basement moisture is due to more serious problems like a cracked foundation, you'll need more extensive (and costly) repairs.

Absolutely! Waterproofing your basement is a smart investment that can increase your home's value. By keeping your basement dry and free of moisture problems, you protect your home's structural integrity and make it more appealing to potential buyers. Plus, taking proactive measures now can prevent costly water damage repairs down the line.

The time required to waterproof a basement depends on the selected method. Some approaches to interior waterproofing, like paint or sealant, can be completed within a day. Installing new drains or weeping tiles will need at least two to three days of labor. Any forms of exterior waterproofing that require you to excavate land will require an additional three days of work to prepare the ground.

Yes, basement waterproofing can significantly increase your home's value. A dry, leak-free basement is a strong selling point for potential buyers, enhancing your property's desirability and market price. Investing in professional waterproofing not only protects your home's structural integrity but also ensures a healthier living environment by preventing mold and mildew growth.

Waterproofing both the interior and exterior of your basement offers the best protection against moisture. Exterior waterproofing stops water from penetrating your foundation, while interior methods manage any moisture that does enter. If you must choose one, exterior waterproofing is generally more effective, as it prevents water from reaching your home's interior in the first place.
