"My need was a bit different - I needed a beautiful piece of wood to mount an artifact on. The wood needed to be dark and interesting, but not too ornate. We communicated through texts and selected a date/time for me to come out to see what he had. I drove to Keith's yard, and he met me there. I love wood and had fun just wandering through all his inventory - from the logs to the final pieces - fascinating. Once he understood what I wanted, we went through his many beautiful pieces. I loved the olive specimens he had, but they didn't fit my needs. We finally decided on a 5-foot piece of Claro Walnut. Keith showed me what it would look like when finished and even cut it to the size I needed, and sawed the rugged edges I wanted (I hate straight 90-degree angles). I now have a sanding/finishing project and can't wait to see the result on my bedroom wall. Highly recommended for his experience and craftsmanship, as well as his friendly demeanor and helpful recommendations."

"Charles went above and beyond and gave us a beautiful new home after the renovation. He and his crew were efficient, professional and affordable. Full house renos can come with surprises and our project was no different. But Charles analyzed each issue and always came up with creative, safe and affordable solutions. His craftsmanship, particularly in cabinetry, was excellent. We are extremely pleased with his work and our “new” home."

FAQs for addition to existing structure building service projects in San Miguel, CA

You can typically raise your roof by four to eight feet, depending on your home's structure and roof design. The exact amount depends on factors like roof slope and framing support. Raising the roof creates additional interior space, enhances natural light, and increases your home's value. Consult a professional to determine the feasible height increase for your home.

Yes, you need a building permit to raise your roof. Obtaining a building permit ensures your project complies with local building codes and safety regulations. A professional contractor can assist with the permit and inspection process and ensure all legal and safety requirements are met. Your contractor will be familiar with building codes in your area, which can differ between cities or states.

While it's possible to raise a flat roof, it requires extensive structural modifications. Flat roofs lack the attic space and support structures of pitched roofs, so raising them involves significant engineering to ensure safety and durability. This process can be complex and costly, so professional assessment is essential before undertaking a project of this magnitude.
