Small jobs welcome

"Cunningham Construction (Paul and Vicki) helped us navigate a fairly complex remodel where we moved a laundry room to our garage and replaced the laundry with a shower creating an downstairs guest space with it's own bath and shower. Paul and Vicki adeptly managed the permitting process across our county and township. Paul's attention to detail showed through in the planning and execution. The project involved managing electrical, plumbing, painting and custom shower installation teams, drawing up architectural plans for the home, and leveraging a deep cross functional set of skills from framing, drywall, texturing, tile, door framing, procurement of materials and disposal. Their professional and detailed approach was further enhanced by their down-to-earth collaboration, explanation and high quality execution. Our project took time to get right, and the accounting for materials, labor and schedule were detailed and accurate. I would be so happy to work with them on future projects!"

Customers say: True professional

"Leo was very helpful and quick to respond. We’re happy with how our 2 bathrooms turned out. Project was completed within the time promised. Our only complaint is that the workers did not clean up very well. But overall, we’re satisfied and we’ll use them again. "

"John is a super honest guy, who takes a lot of pride in his work, and isn't someone who is out to take advantage of people. I had 4 other bids besides his, and he provided not only the best price, but the best solution to remedy my deck issues. He went above and beyond what was stipulated in his bid to ensure that the problem that I had experienced would not reoccur again in the future. And, he didn't ask for any additional money. His work is top notch and I will be having him back to work on another project down the road. I highly recommend him!!!!"

"We hired Landscape Dynamics, led by Ken Wexner, in August of 2016, for a sizeable job completely re-landscaping our front yard, replacing the driveway and adding a new set of concrete steps leading to our front door. We are delighted in all respects: with the results, with the way the work was done and the way the agreement and finances turned out. We heartily recommend Landscape Dynamics. How we Found Landscape Dynamics We often walk the neighborhood and see too many jobs that are poorly executed. The concrete work is sloppy. The design is poor. But a few jobs looked markedly different, and one had a sign with Landscape Dynamics' contact information. We called Ken. He came over one evening, but we didn't have a clear vision of what we wanted. He told us that we weren't ready for him, and that we needed to snap pictures of what we saw out there that we liked, and that he didn't want to start spending our money drawing up designs when he wasn't sure he understood what we wanted. I respect that. It took us a few months, but we did what he suggested, and he returned for a second visit (still no cost). We retained him to draw up a design (refundable if we hired him to do the work). With a few tweaks, the design was excellent, and we negotiated and signed an agreement. Executing the Work We had to wait about six weeks for him to begin: a shorter wait than we had expected, as he tends to be pretty booked up. He began the job on time, and finished on time, about four weeks later. His team was working our job every day. The team of three (Ernesto, Manuel and Martine)) were gentlemen: friendly and hardworking, and fully bilingual (Spanish and English). They were happy to explain what they were doing and why, and cleaned up every day. As the work unfolded, we saw them do many things that weren't called out for in the contract, but that they do as part of a quality job. For example, they went to great lengths to remove pervasive roots from a big tree we had recently removed. Of course, Ken was there nearly every day. He's hands on, making decisions, driving the big equipment, checking the work. His hands are usually dirty. Ken had a Bobcat loader on site for a few weeks, along with a Kubota tractor. That, plus thousands of dollars of other equipment on the side of my house. He's made a big investment in his business. Landscape as Art Having been in the art business for over 20 years, I understand aesthetics. Ken is a landscape artist. He creates mini-parks, and truly cares about, and insists on great design. He worries about balance and perspective. He sees and understands texture and color. While he accepted input from us and created the vision we asked for, he would stop us if we asked for something that ultimately wouldn't look good, or wouldn't last. There were some details in the stairs he built, and the rock placements that surprised us yet they looked awesome, and fulfilled our vision. We didn't have to tell him every detail, and t"

FAQs for arbor, pergola or trellis custom build projects in San Ramon, CA

Pergolas and gazebos are both outdoor structures, but there are differences between the two. A pergola has a slatted roof that allows partial sunlight to filter through, creating a light and airy space. In contrast, a gazebo features a solid roof that provides complete shade. This key difference influences the comfort and visual appeal of your outdoor space.

Prefabricated pergola kits require one to four hours of assembly, while custom pergola designs take an average of eight to 16 hours. Additional groundwork, such as pouring a concrete slab, leveling the site, and removing obstructions, may extend the installation process to several weeks, ensuring a secure and long-lasting build.

A standard pergola kit ships with everything you need—four support posts, rafters, top runners, support beams, and hardware for anchoring the frame to a concrete pad. Many manufacturers also bundle add-ons like retractable canopies, privacy screens, or modular sections that let you tweak the footprint. Because each part is pre-cut and labeled, the kit helps you—or your contractor—assemble a sturdy, attractive structure without extra trips to the hardware store.
